(((Hugs))) Valli.Oh, and my boss bought me and DH something rather naughty for Christmas. Not sure what to make of it, very funny, and glad I suppose that I'm not thought too old for that kind of thing!
:rotfl:Still got to put up decorations and tree, make crakers, make card for DH and wrap gifts :-)
Love to all...better get cracking!
Sounds to me as though you're trying to do Christmas all by yourself, Jellie. Can you delegate some of it to your DH?
OH is sawing, as I type, to make me a worktop for one of the new cabinets I put together, which has hitherto been bald. Lovin' him a lot right now because he hates DIY. I have a large number of things to wrap for him that he doesn't know about and even one for Devil Cat. Other than that, I think we're pretty ready for it.
Oh, except we've got to remove the inner front door lock or I think we'll get an emergency phone call on Christmas day to say the lodgers are locked out. After 23 years of being perfectly okay its spring has decided to randomly lock the door, and we've never had a a key for it. Slightly worrying ....Better is good enough.0 -

- The DVD player is on its last legs and will only play some DVDs. It seems to dislike the Terry Pratchett ones, for some reason, we have to play those on the pc, which means I can't have subtitles on. The ones it will play, it sometimes gives up on partway through the film.
- The kitchen timer went hinky and had to be replaced; it kept jamming and ceasing to count down.
- My half pint Pyrex jug broke - for no apparent reason; it was on the side waiting to be washed up, no-one was anywhere near it, and it suddenly cracked right the way round the base.
- We had a leak in the roof over the spare room.
- One of my Belgian glass earrings fell apart (I can fix that, just need a bit of Araldite).
- And now the blasted bath tap has broken,
Froddy how are the wee ratties settling in? Have they got names yet?If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Morning!
Bit of washing to put away, one or two things to iron. Fire is lit, gammon in the oven, carols on the CD player. Just taken DS1 some coffee, he tells me was drinking cider, guiness and baileys amongst other things last night. No wonder he looks a bit grey!
One or two bits of shopping to get but nothing desperate. Off to the pub at 4pm with the boys to meet friends and family for a couple of hours then home for some party food and some Christmas telly.
I really should get dressed!0 -
Morning my lovelies,
Forgive me for not commenting on your responses, I have just skim read while I drink my coffee.
Yesterday yet again feels like a blur but last-minute shopping was done, then the main lounge cleaned and made Christmassy.
This morning I have been up early remaking Santa sacks. My 2 have always had them and now DS has a long term girlfriend I had to have one for her. I managed to split his as they have the same picture front and back and have added plain backs and put a new cord through the additional one. Seems silly going to all the trouble for a couple of 24 year olds :embarasse but his girlfriend is lovely and like a big kid at Christmas.
Going to finish coffee then I have to go out, take card to friend in next town, should have posted it but don't know her house number since she moved although I've been there several times. Then I need to drop pressy round to my brother and back home for a tidy up of dining room before off to DS this evening. Hope he gets finished on time but as a boy in blue it will be doubtful and he's back on again in the morning . DD won't be able to come with us either as she is now working part time so it will be the first year we won't have an opportunity to all be together. Need to check last church service time and see if dd wants to go when she finishes work (and if we're back on time.)
Well coffees done so will catch you all later x

Have ironed all washing dried so far, have washing on line, drying beautifully, and have cleaned out the bunny hutch. Been to Ald1 as I needed 4 tubs of mascarpone cheese and it's so much cheaper - was very quiet, then mr m for other stuff. Bought champagne, might use it, might save it as DD is 21 next month. Struggled to find jelly for trifle but DD has been driving round on errands and has scrounged one off her.
so when she gets back I will make a start on the trifle.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Just popping in to wish everyone a happy and peaceful Christmas.
Hope your bath tap is fixed now, LW.
DH had to go to hospital this morning for an echocardiogram - it looks as if there's something wrong with one of his valves. We drove back at about 10.30 past Merry H€ll and were surprised at how empty the car parks were.
We have finished putting up the decorations and had lunch, and once I have drunk my :coffee: I will do a quick flick round with the fevver-onna-stick and then start some baking while DSH hoovers downstairs. Upstairs can wait until next week. I still haven't wrapped any presents, and I want to go to the 6 pm carol service.
Will see you all on the new thread!0 -
Hello, me again.
Ionafan, hope DH is ok. I went to Leeds yesterday and was surprised by how quiet it was there, so different from last year. Maybe everyone is just really organised this year.
So I have done everything from my list including the fund raising. Did just over £100. I am still trying to get warm so in leiu of a second dog walk I am going to play indoor with them instead.
Happy Christmas to you all. I may be on here tomorrow, depends how the day develops.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I too have been out and about and the roads are ridiculously quiet. We live on a main road in out of town and all day yesterday it was chocka, today totally the opposite. Shops still had loads of stuff and were reducing early in line with the earlier closing time. Just a couple of last minute extras to wrap and the floor to mop over then I'm done before we shoot over to DS.
In case I don't get back on May I wish all flyladies old and new a very merry Christmas xxMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
I knew I'd omitted something from the list of things that have broken in the last couple of weeks - the CH thermostat is on the blink, too.:(
Anyways, the good news is the bath tap has been replaced and the bathroom is now properly usable again.:T
We've decided to have the wash basin tap replaced also, as it's getting a bit stiff, so I reckon it's only a matter of time before it too breaks; our excellent plumber has supplied both bath and basin taps (they match, too, so another reason to get the basin done also) and has, as I said, done the urgent bit; he's coming back Tuesday to do the basin and also supply and fit a new CH thermostat.
Lots of £££ we could do with not spending; but we don't spend extra over the Christmas period, so really it's no worse than any other time of the year for us.
The other good bit is I washed bedlinen today and managed to get it dry outside!!! Not bad for late December!
Whatever you're doing tomorrow, have a grand day.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I'm going to say Merry Christmas to all flyladies, past and present, thoughts to all those missing loved ones, and a peaceful day all round.
In case I don't get chance tomorrow
