For me this is a sign of a fragile economy still over dependent on specific sectors like Financial services.

We were warned how dramatic an impact this could have by the GFC, less than a decade ago.

All the talk after was of diversifying, and yet we are centralising even more wealth; even more dependent on London.

But to be fair, no-one on either side thought the vote would be unrelated to triggering of A50, so the 2 events were used interchangeably.

Exactly, anyone who is still peddling this "the predictions were wrong" nonsense is has either been lobotomised or just being dishonest.

    how would you diversify?
-close down existing profitable businesses in the hope that new 'diversified' businesses will start up
    - the government to pick winners and become entrepreneurs

Got to smile at the Remain camp.

Prior to the Referendum: "Vote leave will mean immediate economic disaster"

After the Referendum when the initial economic signs were bad: "See, told you so, it's a disaster I tells ya"

A few months later when the economic signs look completely different & actually very healthy "Brexit hasn't happened yet so these signs are meaningless".

Never mind, there's bound to be an economic downturn at some point. Whenever it happens be sure to blame it on Brexit......

do you also hate the people of India so much you resent their economic development?
not called toxic toastie for nothing are you

They haven't developed. we have fallen behind.

Of course this is another Great Leap Forward for UKIP and the Clapton thought police. When they aren't occupied erecting straw men in people's gardens, attempting to put words into peoples' mouths, and mangling the English language...

Britain’s vote to leave the EU is finally feeding through to the UK economy, according to a Guardian analysis that shows rising inflation is offsetting brisk trade for businesses.

It's a difficult question, especially this picking winners and losers business.

I used to catch the bus across Manchester city as part of my commute. It was the bus which took a number of the research grads to the materials labs, including the well touted graphene facilities.

I'm a nosey sod, and would talk to those who wanted to talk.

Many of these researchers were Chinese / other parts. They had pretty clear ideas on where all this was going.

China has 16 research areas where it is ploughing billions of dollars into each one. They are definitely trying to pick winners.

I keep in touch with quite a lot that is going on with India.

So I'd be interested in your evidence that they haven't developed.

You have made the assertion, so prove it.

I know I'm wasting my time in this post-truth world we live in, but here goes anyway.
HM Treasury Analysis: The immediate economic impact of leaving the EU.
    Please note the word 'Leaving'.
    Not 'voting to leave'.

    https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/524967/hm_treasury_analysis_the_immediate_economic_impact_of_leaving_the_eu_web.pdf

    Couple of snippets.
with a central estimate that gross domestic
product (GDP) would be £4,300 lower in 2015 terms for each household after 15 years and every year thereafter.

    Shock scenario.
After two years, GDP would be around 3.6% lower in the shock scenario compared with a vote to remain. In this scenario, the analysis shows that the fall in the value of the pound would be around 12%, and unemployment would increase by around 500,000
    Severe shock scenario.
In the severe shock scenario, the analysis shows that after two years the level of GDP would be 6% lower, the number of people unemployed would rise by around 800,000, sterling would depreciate by 15% and CPI inflation would increase by 2.7 percentage points after a year.

Now... the above forecasts may or may not prove to be correct, but to state that 'the forecasts have been proven wrong' is just laughable.
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Since your Brexit vore the value of the £ has plummeted from 100 INR to only just above 80. A 20% fall in 6 months. And thats against a currency that typically runs at 5% to 10% inflation.

Maybe the Welsh steel workers can start to be paid in rupees. Or maybe as Brexiteers they can just keep jamming their heads up one another's a$$es and pretending everything is fine.
