Interesting article by Nick Cohen

So why are the Leave community so bitter and antagonistic towards those who still doubt their plans?
The use of the term Remoaner is indicative of the hateful attitudes that are at play here.

The millions who know that Brexit will shrink their world have every right to be angry. ...........
Yet, instead of seeing the losers’ anger, we are witnessing a novel and graceless phenomenon: victors’ rage. Supporters of Brexit shout about “enemies of the people” and denounce “Remoaners” with all the venom of men and women who have lost rather than won the biggest political struggle of their lives. They demand their opponents pass loyalty tests, as if we were living in a dictatorship. .........
It is as if Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson and Michael Gove persuaded the British to abandon a familiar route ahead and try their short cut to national greatness. The landscape becomes menacing. The supposedly open road turns out to be tight and tortuous. But as soon as the passengers begin to mutter about going back, the furious demagogues of the right bellow that not only can they not turn the car round, they cannot even stop for a vote on whether they should turn the car round. ............
.
So why are the Leave community so bitter and antagonistic towards those who still doubt their plans?

Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

Most people are doing what they've always done. Getting on with their lives. Not a constant topic of conversation that it's made out to be.0

I see more anger and petulance from the remainers, frankly. And yes, most leavers are just getting on with their lives, trusting that now they have voted, we will leave the corrupt, dysfunctional dictatorship the EU is becoming as soon as possible.
Some people are, however, getting frustrated by the disgusting attempts by the likes of Bliar, Osborne, Soubry, Kinnock, Faron, Cleg, Branson and many other dubious establishment figures to subvert the democratic vote and attempt to make Britain remain in the corrupt EU. This for purposes that would suit the affluent, self-serving establishment, but would result in our losing our sovereignty and being dictated to by incompetents and more self-serving, power-hungry, loathsome creatures who have no loyalty to our country or real relationship with it or its citizens.
P.S. The guardian article is stupid.0 -
I'm a leaver, and the reason for the unsettled behaviour is pure and simple. The vote was a clear majority to leave, but there seems to be constant attempts to stop/undermine and derail this process. It's probably not helping that its taking a while before we push the button... once this is done I'm sure things will settle.0

The guardian has to sell newspapers.0

You present a journalistic opinion as though it was fact.
I see nothing in that article other than someone needing to write something to fill a bit of space.
At least the author identifies his biased position eary on, rather than pretending to be an objective observer.0 -

Your comment above rather demonstrates Cohen's point. Why are your posts on this so full of bile towards those of a contrary opinionFew people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. I did nothing of the kind. It is obviously his opinion.
Its easier to dismiss the author than discuss the opinion of course. Even on MSE w seem to have this get back in your box attitude to debate on this topic.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. May I suggest the OP stops reading the Guardian, AKA the Daily Fail of the left wing, and switches to the Morning Star which at least is honest about where it's bile is coming from.0

Sapphire is quite correct in her observation IME, in that without doubt the most viciferous and negative posters in these forums at least are certain members of the remain faction.
Certainly by far the nastiest.
Whilst the OP derides the use of words like "disgusting" I note their own use of "bile" - which is obviously so much better, isn't it?
Those who voted leave are often referred-to (and often en-masse) using extremely derogatory terminology; you only have to visit almost any page in any thread related to Brexit to witness that sad fact.0 -
I don't think the majority of those that voted to leave are angry. We've all accepted the result and put the referendum behind us. The ones who are angry are the poor losers, who have to keep starting threads when there's nothing to talk about. It's not going to change the result.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
