I was talking about 2m people. Hence why I said 2m people. Sorry if that confused you.

If every single person on the entire planet, all 7 billion of them Graham, descended on the UK at once, they would all fit on the Shetland Islands standing side by side.

The entire population Graham, of the planet.

The problem isn't that there isn't enough space in the country, its that there isn't enough space in your mind. And that is both the hardest and the easiest thing to add an extension to.

And the point of that would be what?

    Good factoid.

I see we are back to ignorance of reality though...which was the very point of my post.

Much higher taxes in total, not per person.
    Indeed.

Which is exactly what I have stated numerous times, indeed on this forum only last week isn't happening.

It's OK to suggest "but if we increase supply we can cope with immigration", the reality of it though is we haven't and aren't increasing the supply of any infrastructure to cope with the numbers of people

I couldn't agree with you more. But no-one wants to seem to want to force the government to fix the cause when it's easier to try and mask the symptoms.

If 1 person is on average a net benefit, then 2m people is also a net benefit.

Those 2m extra people play more in than they take out. The reason everything is struggling is because of government mismanagement and their drive to sell everything off to their country club mates at well under the market rate.

This is rubbish based on biased 'expert' studies by wholly out of touch 'liberal' academics, utterly clueless

Also it was said in Parliament yesterday that only 16% of foreign student loans are ever paid back, No schit Sherlock

Considering that the oldest possible "foreign student" with a loan is in their 30s I'm not sure how that statistic has been configured.

But as as you can keep ranting about liberals and immigrants in another fact free spouting of right wing rubbish, then that's all that matters.

    That's an assumption though.

1 person may be a net benefit. But you can't therefore assume a further 1,999,999 will be the same.

And while I understand that some studies do suggest immigrants are a net benefit, they are just studies, full of assumptions, For instance, the one often used by the media and on here simply ignore people they cannot get results from. I.e. they are not on the radar, or not working but not claiming. So what are they doing? The study doesn;t know either, so ignores them. It only looks at those people who fit in boxes. Which is rather pointless when you are looking at the impact of immigration to have so many ignored.

We will never know whether, over all, it's a beneift or not, truth be told - too many variables. Someone who works will be seen as a benefit, but if they have 12 kids and take more in tax credits than they can possibly earn, are they still a benefit? The study will say yes, as it will ignore the tax credit element.

All anyone can really do is look at how it effects them personally. And we've just had the biggest study possible on this, and with a margin of 2m people, the (small) majority didn't agree with all the benefits of immigration and the EU.

They could be wrong, they could be right. Either way, the studies are all have massive flaws one way or another - and not a single one of them takes into account the impact on society or infrastructure.

Again, truth be told, if the EU didn't insist on Freedom of Movement and let us out of thos arrangement, I can almost guarentee the vote would have been to remain.

Given that student loans only went up to £9k pa in 2012 and EU students aren't eligible for maintenance loans, the only EU students who have left with more than £9k total debt will only have graduated this summer!
