Is it unreasonable to expect TSB to give me immediate access to my savings?

When logged into online banking, they give a phone number for help with payments in excess of the £25k limits.

Do you mind posting it as it doesn't appear for me and I'd like to see what they say.
  • State you want to close the account.
    See what happens then.

They said I had to go into branch!

Although after some complaining supposedly you can write to your nearest branch to ask them to close your account but you might have to pay to receive a cheque or transfer of your remaining balance.
  • I have read all their terms and conditions and I can't find one mention of them only offering Chaps within branch!

How does it offer it then - does it specifically state that it can be done through Internet banking?
Does it specifically state it can be done over the telephone?

You are being pedantic because you cannot have your own way.
I bet you would be the first to jump down their throats if fraudsters had managed to defraud you of your money.

I refuse to believe that there was really nothing they could have done!
Did you expect them to do something that they have no ability to do?

If you can find a mention that overtly states you can have a CHAPS transaction by phone your complaint has merit.

I spread my money out but I still had over £75,000 with a few financial institutions.

You have your own solution right there then........use some money from TSB and some from your other accounts.

Top up the other accounts at £25k a day to refill them if that's where you prefer to hold your savings.

From the main screen, click 'Make a payment', under 'Help & support' on the R/H side click 'What are my online payment limits?'. See last para.

Is it their fault you chose to use a bank that doesn't have a branch network in Ireland?
It's not called local banking in Britain for nothing...

Why would a bank not help you if they could?

That applies to any customer services business.

Didn't live in *NORTHERN Ireland* at the time and it's in the U.K and TSB is a U.K bank so what's your point?
