  • What are people's experiences with getting resort fees waived?

We won't use the wi-fi, gym, boarding pass printing, etc.

Equally we're not big gamblers, so probably won't put loads through our reward cards.

Saving the best part of £200 would make a massive difference to our budget.

Seen more !!!!!!!s in the Cosmo last year and the Aria, than we've seen in the Lux....

Yes, indeed. After last trip, I'll likely never stay at the Cosmo again considering the awful behaviour they allowed in their property. Contrast that with our visit to the Tropicana (we haven't stayed there, but just went to gamble for a bit). At about 4pm there was a large birthday/hen party making their way through the casino, screaming, laughing and yelling at the top of their voices. Not swearing, or being aggressive or anything, but just being very, VERY loud. They headed up the stairs towards the guest rooms and a security guard followed them and politely asked them to quieten down, which they did immediately. No fuss, no-one suggesting they shouldn't enjoy themselves, but just reminding them to be more respectful of other people around them.

I don't think that poster had any ill intent, BTW, it maybe just came across badly. At the end of the day, my decision to switch from the Cosmo is based on the type of person we witnessed staying there on our last trip, and on the fact the the hotel condoned the behaviour by doing nothing about it. For instance, I do not expect to see a guest SPIT on the casino carpet as he walks through, and the nearby security guard watch him do it and then look away. I wouldn't consider it acceptable for someone to act like that in a Travelodge, and I certainly don't consider it acceptable in a 5 star.

I only tried it once, last trip. The Cosmo waived the resort fee and also some room service because I complained politely but firmly about our bad experience when I checked out. I played heavily on the fact that we were repeat customers, and long-term residents each time. The receptionist took the details of my complaint, verified that we'd had to call security during our stay, checked with her manager and took the money off our bill. Took about 5 mins, tops.

Morning, has anyone here been to see "O" at the Bellagio. Looking to book tickets for September, so can get any seats. Someone on Tripadvisor suggests block 203 row P and O - these are the "cheapest" seats but it says they are fab views. Anyone agree/disagree please? TIA

We have seen it 3x - we have not sat in the section you mention, but I should imagine they are very good. We did sit in 103 last time we went and it was amazing. We had balcony seats the first time and they were interesting in a way as you could see more of the stage mechanisms at work and the divers below, etc. But for a more 'pure' viewing experience, for a first time, I would avoid the balcony.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I think we have to accept resort fees even if we don't use all the facilities they cover, similarly more strip hotels are now charging car park fees :(.

I have managed to have the resort fees waived on a couple of occasions, first a 3 night stay at the SLS, the wifi did not work in the room which I reported twice, they waived about $60. Secondly at the Westin resort in Henderson room service did not turn up twice in a week. The resort fees there were only about $10 a day, I was offered food credit but accepted the fees waived.

So if you have a reason to complain about anything and want to get a reduction on the fees, play on the complaint, it may work.;)
  • I was trying to be helpful by putting MY opinion and view over, I was not looking to rub anyone the wrong way.

A case of what made sense in MY head is interpreted differently to everyone else but then I can't control the actions and thoughts of anyone but myself.

Finishing up, I personally have not encountered what I consider crazy drunk and disorderly people (aggressive and or threatening) at the Palazzo but maybe I will on my next trip.

I leave you all in peace.

Welcome to the forum / thread :) - I understood what you were trying to say and took no offence as I know you weren't making a general statement about everyone who attends elsewhere, however based on your experiences it has become your preference to do what you do.

Completely understand, and though it's differently worded, it's not miles away from people who don't like to stay at 'x' because of 'y' or buy 'a' because of 'b' etc etc (based on their own, or friends previous experiences)

    Please keep posting here :)

I was impressed with Yellowtail at the Bellagio. Could be worth checking out the Lucky Dragon?

My experience of getting resort fees waived are hit and miss, mostly miss.

in the early days it was relatively easy, now IMO its very difficult unless you have a genuine complaint
