We have some rewards so we were sticking with MGM properties.

What rewards do you have that make you want to stick with MGM.

That may be a bit like saying I have a Tesco club card so I don't want to shop at Sainsbury's ( does anyone do that).

there are many nice rooms on and off the strip that are not MGM

I take your point. We have 200 gold ones each

We spent months collecting them. So would resent the time especially when excalibur is a reasonable rate.

I just wonder if the mirage is worth the extra 300 for location, view, room quality etc

Not sure what you mean by 200 gold ones.

IMO the Mirage is nicer and better situated, the pool is also much better. is it worth £300 extra , thats difficult to say as value is different for everyone.

If you are going to go regular to Vegas I would stay in a Caesers or Boyd property just once do a little gambling and you will almost certainly get offered comped rooms for future stays.

I find getting comps at MGM harder than those 2

If by gold ones, you mean Loyalty Points, then you won't get much for that amount. I certainly wouldn't base where I was staying on using those points.

It looks like the cheapest reward is 500 LP's and is a 2 for 1 midway game at Circus Circus.

    Thanks Photome and Pebblesmax

Yes I do mean lp. I will probably get two buffets and the times square 50 dollars. So that would save us a couple of meals.

Hmmm I just don't know. So many to choose from. I actually liked Hooters casino last time I went though not sure about the rooms.

You must mean 200,000 Loyalty Points rather than 200?

Since you say the room partly makes the holiday for you, I would say Mirage. The general consensus on the Excalibur is that the rooms are clean and perfectly fine, but if you want somerhing a bit less basic I would go for the Mirage.

Right...just got back from our New Orleans/New York trip yesterday and it's time to focus on Vegas again...need to ring the US regarding booking a room offer..having a problem accessing it via online site.

If I remember correctly wasn't the free phone number for calls to the states stopped recently..think stuie made the comment...if so,does anyone know of any other free call number to America ?
  • We've stayed at Excalibur twice and just got back from the Mirage last week. I'd say Mirage is worth the extra $300 for the location but not really for the room. I think all Excalibur rooms have now been renovated so they're fresh, modern and clean. The bathrooms are also bigger at Excalibur. Regarding pools, nicer loungers at the Mirage but I actually prefer the choice of pools at Excalibur.

Personally I would pay still pay the extra $300 unless it would pinch your budget too much. The Mirage casino is much nicer and the convenience of the location is worth a lot to me. Nicer dining options at Mirage too

the old 0161 number u used to be able to call to then call the US, got changed to an 0845 local rate number...
What I didn't know is that 0845 (the old Local rate 1p a min jobby) is a load of Rubbish, and its more like 50p a minute, due to paying a "service" charge + 1p a min, etc...
I think whichever way u look at it, u might have to bite the bullet with a 50p per min phonecall to the US ! :(

    @Rebecca..
You like Hooters ? my kind of gal ! :D:D;)
Mirage is good, not sure at a rate of £300 extra its that good... Only ever used the pool at Excalibur (great pools!) , but then the Mirage pool is pretty dam good.
Mirage is a nice place, but then I am an MGM man, so any of the mgm places are nice! :):):)
