I've successfully got through today too (yesterday ended badly - three cans of Carling, but I don't drink all that often and know it could've been worse
). Today's menu included pukkamum's butternut squash soup recipe from another thread - so good that it's definitely going to be a regular feature. What's really astonished me about today has been how much I've got done without even giving much thought to it. At least three long-time lurkers have gone from my to-do list. I'm not expecting to be as dynamic every day, but if this is what OS dieting does for you, I'm liking
The mention of 'The Secret Garden' on the previous page got me googling, and I've found the online version, complete with the original illustrations. Quite a lengthy read, but enough to keep minds occupied and fingers out of the bread-bin for a while

Dazi well done, you made a good start and its not like going to the pub for tea is something you do every day so a treat isnt really a bad thing at all.
Ive lost 1lb this week, a few weeks ago i said this is my heaviest i wont ever be heavier than i am now, 2 weeks later id gained 1lb, today getting on the scales its gone again and im back to that heaviest so im making my promise again but this time there will be no comfort eating or skiving out of exercise, i cant do the school run or the gym the next few days as waiting for a delivery so i will be up on my stepper and cleaning like a mad woman waiting for it as for food todays plan is
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs on toast with small hot chocolate
Snack: Yoghurt
Lunch: Soup (not homemade unfortunately)
Snack:Apple
Tea: Shepherds pie (Homemade)
Also 4 pints of water minimum and to kick the caffiene filled pop habit. thanks again for this thread i need the motivation!0 -
Morning all,
just a quickie to say hi and to all those who have fallen off the wagon , forget it! It has gone and you can't change it ~ today is another day xx
Todays food :
Brekky ~ Banana , apple , apricots
snack ~ handful of nuts
Lunch ~ jacket pot , LOADS of veg and butter beans
tea ~ watercress and peanut butter sandwich
I'll be drinking lots of water too , but I really do not like it:mad: It's just tasteless!!
Anyway taking dogs for a long walk too and keeping busy. I know what you mean about getting things done. I've had a very long "to do "list that never got "done" but since I've stopped stuffing at every oportune moment I've really made a dent in it. MrsM 's helpful tip is to do some sort of "crafty thing" of an evening , it helps as it gives your fingers something to do other than put things in your mouth! It also helps me as I don't want to get whatever it is sticky.
One week today before weigh day One for me, feeling excited and nervous already ~ I'd better have lost!!!Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

well done on avoiding the pudding in the pud DAZI.... im sure im not the only one on here, who used to start on the pudding pages when looking at a menu:p ....so :T to you for resisting....
Pounds n pensive..... once you start OS-ing it soon becomes habbit, and not only does it keep you destracted from food, but burns extra calories too -its a win-win situation...
Debtfreehopeful - well done on losing that defiant 1lb, there will soon be more joining it

Morning all, BLUEBERRY STREUSEL SLICE sounds wonderful, but i know i will binge if i eat any sweet things so i've decided to stay away from them altogether until my tastes have changed.
We all had a curry night at a friends last night and it was lovely and it was impossible to eat 'low fat'.
Anyway, today:
Porridge with chopped banana & raisens.
Roast chicken, broccoli, carrots, swede, dry roast parsnips & dry roast potatoes and gravy...yum yum
For tea...haven't got a clue yet..something low fat...probably soup.0 -
morning
was at bbq yesterday afternoon, ate too much but nothing like i would normally have done, no bread or pud (well i did have a jaffa cake instead but thats not quite the same as choc fudge cake so am qite proud, had a couple of glasses of wine but prob wont have another drink now for a while. OH's b'day tomorrow but we are celbrating today, will prob do beef and the works, will avoid the roasties though, wish me luck as that will be a major acheivement as i love them !!
had granary toast with (much less than i used to have) butter on and that will be it until roast dinner!
good luck for today and will call back this evening- prior planning prevents poor performance!

"They" say the best way to judge portion size is by the size of the palm of your hand. Open your hand out infront of you , palms up. Now the amount of protien you eat should be no bigger than the size of your palm on one hand and your carbs no bigger than the palm on the other.
That would certainly cut my portions drastically, as I have really small hands!! :rotfl:
Great recipes so far, really enjoying this thread. I don't actually know how much I weigh at the moment, but when I had my wisdom teeth out a couple months ago I was 14st 4 which is probably the lowest I've been since college (6 years ago). I found I put on weight when I had a year out before university, also my boyfriend at the time wasn't the best person to be with and so I know I comfort ate a lot as well. My aim is to lose around 2 stone, though my GP thinks I should be weighing around 9 stone, to me this is really unrealistic as I'm 5' 8 and have broad shoulders and wide hips and I think the last time I was 9 stone was the beginning of high school! So, I've set my own target. I don't have any scales and tend to go by my clothes size as I don't enjoy the whole weighing in thing. I do have an exercise bike (I figured it would be cheaper than gym membership and I could do it when the time was right for me) so will be using that a little more frequently. I also walk a fair bit, so that helps.
What I tend to struggle with is when I come home from work in the evening...my dinner normally ends up being weetabix (well tescos ones anyway) as I just can't be bothered. I normally want something quick and easy, but never know what else to do.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650 -
Hi Toonie
Do you have a slow cooker??? It would makes life so much easier...you could get some batches frozen up in individual portions...i am finding it so much easier - and cheaper, i can got out and if im hungry...because i know i can zap something in the micro, i don't end up having something whilst im out...
I make casseroles/stews and try to put in as much as i can... so i may do stewing meat, onions, carrots, mushrooms, swede, peas etc... so you almost have a meal in one...plus as there are loads of veggies in there..you get a filling portion without loads of calories...
I have loads of recipes if you need any....although i usually make it up according to what is on offer in the supermarkets, and what needs using up from the fridge...
Bolognaise, chilli etc are good ones to freze up... and you can always have a jacket going round in the micro whilst you have 5 mins with a cuppa when you get in.-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
No, I don't have a slow cooker, and I'm currently living at home with my parents and sister, her hubby and their two kids, so no space to put one either! Though that is one thing I plan to buy as I'll be moving out in January and money will be tight. I used to make stews and casseroles a lot, mostly at the beginning of the week, then could just warm up whenever I wanted, so maybe I will try that again. I'm sure I could make something on a Sunday and call ahead on a Monday night to get it warming up for when I get home.
I am quite fussy with food, especially veggies as I grew up with only peas and carrots. I do now eat sweetcorn, swede and red onions so I have things to bulk up stews, but I don't eat any other veggies. I also don't eat spicy food (unless its ginger or cinnamon) or rice, pasta (unless its fresh egg pasta) or anything with melted cheese, so my diet does tend to be a little repetitive.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650
