Atlas Choice and GreenMotion payment problems

Hello everyone,
I have a similar issue with Atlas-choice, but it is different in one important aspect. During my rental in October with Atlas-choice in Barcelona, we had a chipped windscreen, which was just bad luck. Following this I had to pay the amount (~1000€) to the local rental company and then took the paperwork to send to Atlas-choice.
I then claimed my excess (as this is the third-party-insurance I had with Atlaschoice) over the webpage and then soon after my claim was confirmed valid from Atlaschoice. Unfortunately the money did never arrive in my account and until the 14.12 (when I last had phone contact with them), I was told that they were having IT issues.
Now, as I know they are kinda broke, I am worried about my money. Especially my bigger issue is, that I plain do not know what to do, as obviously my bank is not involved in it anymore.
Does anyone have a suggestion for me?
Thanks0 -
You have 2 things todo, firstly make sure you tell your bank not to pay any monies to the rental company in barcelona, because it's nearly 3 months and they will be chasing Atlas for the voucher payment.
Then you should get details of the insurance cover from Atlas, it would have been another company I would have thought.0 -
Atlas Car Hire took payment from my Debit card on 21st December then went bust on the 22nd. Now I will have to try a claim back through Santander and arrange a new car for my trip to Cape Town on 20th January.
I thought it was illegal to trade if you know you are insolvent?0 -
Thanks for the hint with telling my bank, and I will make sure my bank will not pay them. I only gave the local rental agency my creditcard for the bond, which they gave me back (at least the part they did not use for the damage).
But this is the smaller issue, as we are talking here about 40 or 50€.
And the insurance cover is from Atlaschoice, working as a thirdparty insurer (1st party: me, 2nd party: local agent, 3rd party: atlaschoice).
So I picked the car up from Autoclick and paid them the bond and the damage. Then I could end the documents to Atlaschoice, as I bought the product "Excess Refund - Excess Refund Product", whereby the General Conditions of this can be found here :
(I can not post links so: you need to google "atlaschoice rental car terms and conditions" and then (in my case) the third page)
On the 28.11 I recieved the confirmation, that I was supposed to get my money (which I paid to autoclick) back, as this product was advertised, but over the next months, they always mentioned their IT-issues ("we can not pay as the software is broken").
But looking at all of this I still do not know, what the next step for me could be for the excess refund.
I already dealt with the money, which is running over my creditcard.0 -
Just checked the atlaschoice site and at least there is a bit more info on it now, regarding hires and getting refunds seen as they don't answer calls. Seemingly there payment processor is not processing any transactions and you have to you bank to do a charge back, as people have already been told. Contacted my card issuer and they said there have been alot of calls about atlaschoice didnt even have to say there name at the bank knew who i was calling about. S o fingers crossed0

I most certainly wouldn't take that sitting down.
I agree all it says on the site is you can cancel, no info at all unti you actually complete the booking. It's not much cheaper going through a broker but they did offer free cancellation. And the never replied to emails I sent regarding it0 -

Personally I would contact Hertz about it...because that is just sleazy.

There is no information anywhere about a charge being levied for cancellation of a non prepaid rate.0 -

How are you getting on with this? I'm having a similar problem via Hertz for an excess on a car hire from 6 months ago. They haven't taken payment yet, but are chasing me and saying it is my responsibility to recoup the money from Atlas, does anyone know if this is correct?
Given the length of time that has elapsed I'm guessing that Hertz were dealing directly with Atlas until they went bust and have now moved on to customers as they don't think they'll get paid.0 -
@all the charge back for a booking, which I cancelled, worked. I recieved the money back, so thanks for this.
@Wisbey
I don't know how this is with Hertz, as they only take a small deposit. I had to pay the full amount at the rental desk and basicly were just waiting for Atlas to pay me back.
Regarding how to continue I figured this out until now:
Well, the issue I have is that I have not been charged on my creditcard, so I can ask my creditcard company for help for this case. And other insurances, which I might have are also useless, because I did not really recieve a "damage".
What I did, still do is just keep the claim for my "Product" by writing them. The answer I received on the 9.01 is just saying:Dear Sir or Madam,
We will contact you today as AtlasOption can not afford the payment of your "product for reimbursement of self-excess" which you have purchased in connection with your rental car booking due to exceptional circumstances.
Nevertheless, we would like to point out that after 15 January 2017 we could have more information about this.
We apologize for any inconvenience, particularly at this time of the year.
Best regards,
AtlasOption car hire
(sorry, this is googletranslate, as my communication is in german)
After the 15.1 I asked again, if they have new information, but I literally go the same email, just with January changed to February. So there is not much to do then wait and write an email each month.
But otherwise I don't know what else to do, then to keep the claim for the "product" we bought in the room.0
