So basically I wait until, there is definite notice of liquidation which could be a while. Then I will need to book with another company. But if there is no notice of liquidation I need to wait until I am actually on holiday in July where I will need to pay a probably over inflated price for car hire and then do a charge back. And if I was to cancel with atlas now I would be unlikely to see my money.

Oh well went on there site to check the booking and cancellation policy an managed to cancel the whole booking by mistake. Who knows what will happen now

I guess it depends on the cancellation policy. If it was cancellable for a full refund then, even if you don't get it, they would be in breach of contract and you could make a claim but I think you'd still have to wait until the service wasn't delivered (because it was never cancelled if you see what I mean).

If it wasn't cancellable then arguably you could have just let them keep them money - I do hope not...

Received cancellation email straight away, obviously automatic, and email supposedly showing how much the refund is but when you down load it it's just a load of symbols.
There was a £15 cancellation fee

Make sure you check your credit card statement because I doubt that money will actually arrive.

I agree with the above, but Malky has a booking for next summer. So they have not yet failed to deliver the service.

Ah good point you are right and I hadn't spotted that. So yes it is tricky because you can't claim you have not recieved the service until you were due to recieve it. My mistake, apologies.

I see on Twitter than MSE's journalist is trying to get to speak to them and seems to be having no more joy than anyone else!

Obviously just waiting not to get my refund from atlaschoice, I hastily booked a car through firefly, the company at atlas hire was through also though better to deal with the actual co. And not a broker this time, unfortunately I counldnt find there cancellation policy anywhere on there site only a bit saying cancellation is allowed. So booked, nearly double the atlas price, only to find that there policy is that if you cancel 5 days or more before the hire they will charge you 50% plus £30 admin bit extreme. But hey this is all a lesson learned hopefully I get the cash back from atlas
  • 6 of us are off to Iceland on Tuesday, booked a place in the middle of nowhere, you know to see the northern lights.

We booked a minibus via Atlas, tbh we didn't realise they were a middle man, and were a bit annoyed at the "voucher" scheme, but thought hey ho, it'll be fine.

Got the email this evening!!!! Leaving me tomorrow to sort out finding a van rental for the 6 of us, or two cars.

I've rang my bank, Lloyds, to file a claim under section 75, and they said it'll take up to 6 weeks to get a decision on the matter, and that I'm not the first to ring up this evening about Atlas.

Had this happened on Monday, I wouldn't have been happy, but slightly less annoyed as I had more time to sort it out.

I'm just hoping when the actual rental company opens in the morning, I can do some sort of deal with them to get the vehicle.
