Just had 2 x 8.2 kWh Givenergy batts installed complete with 3.0 kW AC Inverter for circa £6.5k. Warranty is for ten years with unlimited cycling at 100% depth of discharge.
This seems like a much better deal!

OK, so 16.4 KWh for £6.5K would be a more acceptable price. Thanks anyway.

We have a 3.6kw Luxpower inverter with 9.6kwh Pylontech batteries, total cost just under £4k.
The system is modular so you can easily add capacity as you go. We started off with 4.8kwh and have since added 2 x 2.4kwh Pylontech modules.
Scott in Fife, 2.9kwp pv SSW facing, 2.7kw Fronius inverter installed Jan 2012 - 14.3kwh Seplos Mason battery storage with Lux ac controller - Renault Zoe 40kwh, Corsa-e 50kwh, Zappi EV charger and Octopus Go

    Doesn't (1 x 4.8) + (2 x 4.8) give you 14.4 kWh of battery storage capacity?

Apologies, bit early for me. 🙂

Hi guys, been interested in Battery Storage for my Solar PV system for a long time and been getting excited as the install prices gradually fall....
I`ve now had a quote from Greener Energy Group who have offered a 5 Kwh battery and inverter for £5800. Im assuming this seems slightly expensive for the amount of storage I`d actually be getting? They offer an interest free loan 0% for up to £6k for us living in Scotland.
I`ve asked them to revise the quote for x2 of these batteries, any thoughts?
I`m really not clued up enough on the in`s and out`s of storage to make a proper informed decision as it stands, TIA.
That's a horrible price, good to know to avoid greener energy in the North East
    West central Scotland
    4kw sse since 2014 and 6.6kw wsw / ene split since 2019
24kwh leaf, 75Kwh Tesla and Lux 3600 with 60Kwh storage
  • I have received great advice over the years from this forum and am hoping for some more.....

We have a Powervault P3 4Kwh battery attached to our 8kwh solar panels and would like to add 2kwh more.  During the installation (3 years ago)  Powervault assured us that this upgrade would be a simple 'just plug them in' process, but when we approached them fo a quote they want £4,000.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Our whole battery system originally only cost £3,500 so I am stunned that 2 more battery packs can cost so  much.  Is this right?  If so, is there a way of just buying the same batteries online and getting them installed by a local PV specialist?  Does it have to be a specialist or is it as simple as opening the cabinet and plugging them in.....? Will Powervault notice, and if so, will it matter?  Thanks all.

I had a similar situation with my install and the use of Aoboet batteries. I had 2x2.4kWh for 4.8kWh total, when I wanted to purchase more to at least double it to 9.6kWH the company wanted in excess of £3k which was stupid for just an additional 4.8kWh of storage. I decided to just sell the Aoboet batteries to someone else and then purchase Pylontech batteries 5x2.4kWh for 12KWh of storage, which was a simple swap out and set the different battery make on my Luxpowertek inverter. I think as long as your inverter can accept the battery you wish to add to it then it’s none of the installers business whet you decide to do. Inrcreasing the battery storage is for me an absolute game changer and on average for the last month I have only had to pull about 2kwh per day due to consumer demand above what I could supply vie solar and battery alone (electric shower, oven, drying machine etc). Good luck

That's a great idea, hadn't thought of that.  Thanks.
