  • Hi all

Took Mum Christmas shopping and splurged £1 on some scented tea lights (rather a weakness of mine) £2 on sweets for the boys and £1 on batteries. I bought absolutely nothing else and I am buzzing!

Foxgloves you are so right, the only way to deal with stress and worry is to organise and plan plan plan. I can take it to the extreme though!

Just done hubbys monthly invoices - enough to see us through the next month (just).

Feels like a good start to the week.

    Evening all :)

I've had a pretty rubbish day though I started out with good intentions...

DH and I have been coming down with some sort of lurgey for a few days and he very sensibly stayed home today while I hauled my aris in just in case today wasn't the worst I was going to get. I took two ebay packages with me to drop off at a Hermes pick up point and my tins of soup for the whole week.

First off my train was cancelled due to 'offensive graffiti', once at work my nose blowing brought on a mahoosive nose bleed which left the toilets looking like a crime scene as I ran to get toilet paper. Then the shop I thought was a drop off point wasn't. I stayed on track with soup for lunch though.

Felt progressively worse as the day went on then my train home only had 8 carriages so we were packed like sardines (still carrying my eBay parcels.) I didn't have the strength or the will so stand so sat slumped on the floor in the corner, the only bit of relief came when I apologised for fidgeting (as I moved my packages out of the carrier bag as I felt nauseous) and explained that I was preparing to be sick when everyone flew as far away from me as possible :rotfl:

Threw up when I got off the train whilst having another nosebleed simultaneously and came home and went straight to bed and ordered pizza because I just didn't have it in me to cook or shop.

Tomorrow I will be staying home.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    My list.
    1. Paid £10 off the cc
    2. Found 15p roadkill
    3. Had a booking come out of nowhere. £200 into Jan.
    4. Although I was out of the house from 9am till 4.30pm, my only spends where a coffee to warm up £2.50 and £3 on necessary bus travel.
    5. Took snacks and coffee out with us this morning. I need a flask. Currently only have one travel mug I go out with but I always need more hot drinks to keep warm on long days out.
    6. Jacket potatoes for dinner using up the last potatoes. Served with a tin of sardines between two and salad/cheese
    7. Checked both sets of banking
    8. OH has booked to work from home tomorrow which will save us on travel
    9. Walked loads today, had two meetings before noon, then walked to the bank, and then off towards the school run before hopping on the bus.
    10. As usual looked after DD which is an enormous saving. I am very lucky to be running a business and looking after my daughter.

    Morning all,

FVD, Hope you are feeling better then yesterday, sounds like a nightmare day.
Bob, Great news about the unexpected booking :)
Yorkshirelass, Sounds like a great shopping trip :)
Foxgloves, sorry to hear that you are still waiting for your results, keeping busy is definitely the way to go.

    Todays list
    * Cheap porridge for breakfast from stores :)
    * No gym today as my wrist is still painful, will go out for a walk before this afternoons school run for free exercise
    * Check banking/spreadsheets :)
    * Dejunk email :)
    * Check luckyphone/numberplate/fpl :)
    * Check tcb, waiting for something to be payable :)Not ready yet :(
    * Claim payout on COs :)
    * Check useup list and freezer list are up to date :)
    * Make the leek soup I didn't get round to yesterday with the ys leeks :)In the slow cooker now :) Ys leeks with Sundays leftover mashed potato, stock from the freezer and some well out of date herbs :) This is Dh's fave soup so I'll be in good books tonight!
    * Put rest of the decorations up, without buying any new ones! ;)
    * Post xmas card/letter to MIL, using free stamps from rm surveys :)
    * Renew a library book so that I don't get a fine :)

I'll be back to add more as I go!

    Have a good day all,
** Put carpet/laminate thresholds across the kids bedroom doors, this is from the summer when we were doing a refurb but we had planned on changing the carpet but we have now decided not to so the thresholds have been put down :) Added bonus that we had enough length of thresholds left over from when we replaced the floors in one of the rental houses so didn't cost me anything today :)
** Fixed up two thresholds across the kitchen that the screws hadn't caught properly - re drilled and also added a bit of sealant again from stores :)
** Changed lightbulbs, our hall light has 4 bulbs but only 1 was working, no idea how long its been like that!! Again all from stores :)
** Hot chocolate at home instead of popping to costalot for a catch up with a friend :)

Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
  • Morning guys. Quiet on here yesterday. FatVonD that sounds horrific. I hope you're okay today.

Bob nice one on the booking :)

Carrie hope things get better at work x

Off work today :) so far have tidied room, taken sheets off of our bed, put washing away and managed the hercullian task of getting madam to put her teddies on her bed :) also have 500 grms of dried pinto beans cooking ready to make a big batch of refried beans and freeze several portions of cooked beans.

Other things I need to do:

    Hang up said washing

Check banking and continue with op sort of finances. Remember when I combined my savings with our joint account? Was all nicely accounted for in my ss and our laptop died about a month ago, so now I haven't got a clue and it's going to be a matter of going through what I've spent in each "pot" over the last few months :(

    Find new energy supplier

Going for a walk in the woods shortly looking for pinecones to spray silver for decorations. Also will take gloves and secateurs to bring home some holy and ivy

Madam wants to go swimming this afternoon but I'm thinking free play group :)

Make potato and leek soup to use up leeks. Probably make some cinnamon buns as well....

Make patties and freeze using lo veg from Sunday roast

Divvy up rubber chicken. Freeze 1 portion and use other for quesadillas tonight mmmmm

Seems loads! Have a great day guys x

Feeling lousy but nearly the weekend. more stupidity in work, but have a meeting with a manager tomorrow to try and sort one thing. HR very kind and are pushing me to self-certify a few days off to get some headspace. My line manger also fine about me working from home so I will speak to IT about this as I will need another monitor at home.

    today's mission:
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • Minimise heating but very cold here
    • Dye hair tonight. I look like a meff
    • Crochet
    • No drinkies
    • Resist going to caf!
    • Gym at lunchtime - done
    • Look for particular cupcake cases in B&M on the way home
    Short and sweet

    Have a good one all

Thank you all for your good wishes!

I have called in sick today. I'm ravenous so will cook some jacket potatoes for myself, DS and DS's GF, we only have a small amount of cheese left but we do have a tin of chilli which I can top them with and add a sprinkling of cheese.

Two more items sold on eBay last night so I will wrap those and get DH to drop at local Hermes shop with yesterday's that didn't get taken.

I have to find a box of a suitable size to accommodate a vintage toy that I bought for £2 at a boot sale and managed to sell for £15 :T

If I feel better later I may get up and finish the illustration for the header on the Facebook page for my new business venture. I'm hoping to drum up some interest before launching in February.

I have some YS mince in the freezer which I will defrost for spaghetti bolognese for dinner tonight.

    Have a good day everyone!
