Just entered my usual monthly update of £250. I'm just £100 away from meeting this years target (thanks to a boost early in the year from an unexpected bit of extra cash).
I've finally used my 'rainy day funds' to purchase the new (to me) car that I've spent the last 5 years saving for in a side kitty. I'll probably start a new rainy day pot as there will always be holidays and unexpected expenses to use it for - I usually get to put anything between £1k and £2.5k away each year in addition to the savings I declare here. After a couple of years, if not sooner, I will know if the 'new' car will be a long term feature which I'll run into the ground, or if I'll want to upgrade again in another couple of years time. Either way, I do like having a pot of cash for more frivolous spends to keep separate from the long term savings, as I feel less guilty about spending it then!£12k in 2019 #084 £3000/£3000

We have a tough month ahead as husband is finally having his heart surgery (in his early 30's but its required), he will need to have over a week off work so we will lose approx £800 in Oct. Im SO thankful to this forum and SF as we actually have the savings to accommodate this, i couldn't imagine how we would of managed last year with zero in the bank. Thank you to you all for your motivation and support!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

#6 declaring £2561.69 for this month. Bringing total saved this year to £4461.69.Homeowner:j0

Big fanfare - I've now semi retired and have received my pension lump sum. My savings this month are...£62,000! :j
This is a once-in-a-lifetime payment and it doesn't feel quite right reporting it here, a bit boastful and certainly not a typical month (I wish!). But it is savings I've made through my working life via my pension and have never counted anywhere because it was "invisible" but it is now sitting in my bank.
I've now got to decide what to do with it. Oh for the happy days of being able to bung it in a building society at 6% interest!Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:

Just posted my somewhat meagre efforts for September - October will be tough to with over £2500 planned credit card spends to settle £784.57 takes me to a smidge over 80% for the year to date
How fantastic Wentthedaywell! I hope you take proper advice - I remember some proportions - invest 40% for income, 20% in near (cash-type) savings such as bonds or gilts and use 40% to enjoy your life. Mind you, I don't think cash-based investments were as low as they are now when I heard that.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Wentthedaywell, you're perfectly entitled to boast about how much your hard work for the past few decades has paid off - congratulations!!!
A lot has changed on my end but the numbers are £110 for August and £1,461.92 for September. I've had a (small) payrise, I got a bonus (hoorah!), I have a new boyfriend (oooOOOoooh...), we took a spontaneous trip to Mauritius as you do... And I've had an offer accepted on another property! The good month this month means somehow I'm on track for my £12k target but fingers and toes crossed I won't make it because all my money will be in the seller's bank account!0 -
Congratulations Wentthedaywell! And well done Bobobski! Sounds like a brillant month!#138 - The "Save 12k in 2017" challenge :j
