Bit of light relief - what, if anything, will you be buying your pet for Christmas?

no, it's out!
I'm having a knee replacement and I know the effects as had the other one done in June. I shall be up to eye balls in anaesthetic & painkillers and dogs will be gone for 6 weeks.........But...... could have had a nice Christmas away with friends as usual but would rather get knee sorted so that I can get a life...next year! My fridge will be filled with eggs, eggs and more eggs. Been there, bought the tee shirt etc.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Thanks
My freezer is full of chicken, fish and frozen fruit but I have bought Aldi pud and cake but that really will be for January. Last time I didn't eat well for about 10 days , it was omelettes all the way!!!. Not sure if it was the anaesthetic, think it may have been effect of blood thinning tablets.
Just now getting paranoid about keeping away from coughs, colds and bugs as that would mean postponing. No thanks
Trying to get around what I need to do! Dogs need a couple more kennel coats. Yes, the kennels are heated but they have no undercoat. Just hope a bad winter does not materialise.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

We've decided to get a ball launcher for our old girl. Better than buying things for each other, anyway. She will actually appreciate it0

I have bought a window sill bed/mat, a cardboard scratcher, a food/treat dispenser toy for our 2 boys (cats). Can never leave the animals out! Also bought a toy squirrel for my parents' dog - he loves unwrapping presents (but he's good, only when we let him). I have three rats as well. Haven't bought anything for them yet but the girls would be over the moon just having our leftovers from dinner!Mortgage started 2015: £150,000 2016: £130,000 2017: £116,000 2018: £105,000 2019: £88,000 2020: £69,000 2021: £51,195 2023: MORTGAGE FREE!0

Currently the house revolves around our MIA.
A cat that ADOPTED US about 2 and a half years ago.
Long story (made short) but she was a young kitten at that time found by our wheelie bin that we couldn't find where she had come from, and I decided that she (like a "lost" soldier) was "Missing In Action" and given her frequent upright stance on her hind legs soon realised that she was definitely a MIA CAT
She will get some treats, Dreamies, maybe a toy, and a bit of Xmas dinner - the turkey skin and a bit of sausage stuffing. Maybe a pig in blanket.
This is the 2nd cat to adopt us.
Previously we were "DOG People"
All 4 (not at the same time) always has "prezzies" under the tree, and on Xmas day they found their own and opened them themselves. Could always find the "foodie" ones.
Usually they consisted of a cooked pork sausage or 2, a good chunk or 2 of mature Cheddar and a KitKat. (all loosely wrapped in just minimal Crissy paper)
We'd tell them to "FIND" and point under the :xmastree: and they'd search and rumage around until found, "opened" and devoured.
A great time was had by all, especially the dogs.
And before I'm inundated with replies pointing out that "human" chocolate is poisonous to dogs - yes I know (and onions, grapes etc. etc.) - it's actually poisonous to humans if you could eat enough of it.
However a single (milk) chocolate KitKat is perfectly safe for a 70 kilogram Great Dane to eat occasionally. (and none of our GDs had the slightest interest in "dog" choc)
And they would have an almost complete Xmas dinner when we did. Most of the bits and trimmings (including a brussel sprout) served in a big Yorkshire pud with gravy.

My daughter went to a craft fair and made a white wool mouse from scratch. It wasn't realistic although very good. It looked like a cartoon mouse with a Santa hat and scarf and some jingle bells. It was sitting on a sleigh.
My cats have had numerous mouse toys with catnip, realistic fur, dangled on a string, etc but have ignored them all. They took one look at the Christmas mouse and went crazy. They were following her round the house with it and trying to get at it.. She had to lock it in the wardrobe.
So maybe something like that? The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
We have Guinea pigs. My little boy (7) wrote in a letter to Santa that he wanted a wooden carrot (!) so we have one of those and another nibble toy that I'll put in each kiddies stocking.
Other than that I've got them a bag of dandelion salad - whatever that is, and if any primark bags show up in the next two weeks I'll fill it with hay for them, they do like a paper bag full of hay... LolBossymoo

Not much of a gift  - seems he's on the losing end of the deal and not exactly receiving something extra in his life.
However having said that, they would make an interesting pair of BAUBALLS (although rather small) for your :xmastree: - quite a talking point :rotfl:
