Just as an aside, my son leaves for Uni on Saturday, and I know I'm going to be so upset the weekend is likely to become a comfort eating carb-fest. As a damage limitation exercise I'm trying to think ahead about what things I can eat and get some in ready.. any suggestions would be appreciated :D

Hope everyone has a good day!

Dance around the room celebrating your new found freedom ? think thats what my parents did when I left for uni!

Treat yourself to a cinema outing or something and remember even though he's off to uni he'll be back for the holidays and most kids only truly begin to appreciate the 'rents when they move out and have to cope alone....He'll be back in no time

    Morning all :hello:

Just a quickie, reporting in with a 1lb loss this week. Haven't had time to change my signature yet, but I've decided my goal is to lose 1lb a week from now until we go to Las Vegas, which will be a total of 26lbs, so only 25 to go! :D

    See you later

  • Forgive me friends for I have sinned...............

It's my RC night tonight but thought I'd better get this off my chest before I go as I'm hoping it'll make me feel better when I step on the scales!! Not been a good week with one thing or another so if I write it down then at least I'm facing up to things, eh?!:p

So...on Friday I had to go to a menu tasting for our works Xmas party which involved eating little bits of six starters, six main courses and six puds in order to decide what we're going to have on our menu (I know, a hard job but someones got to do it :D:D ) along with small tasters of wine (I managed to exercise some restraint here and only had a little bit of the red and the white to make sure it wasn't vinegar - although that has less calories hehe! as well as a glass of sparkling). All would have been well as I could count all that but in the evening we went to friends and had tacos - not so bad in themselves but the gin and white wine were the downfall there!!!

Saturday I still went swimming but had my parents over for dinner - did stuffed peppers, roast chicken and then a low fat raspberry pud in the slow cooker - so not too bad but the bottle of red wine finished me off! (As well as the two bags of microwave popcorn I'd had in the afternoon :o )

Sunday wasn't too bad - did my Davina DVD while DH was out and food was okay but then have been away with work on a conference for the last two days

Hotel buffet lunch all deep fried no healthy options, dinner was okay not too calorie laden and I didn't have the pudding BUT - it was free wine and then once that had gone people kept buying me gin!! If I say the bar didn't close until three am and I went to bed at four does that give an indication of intake? Am very ashamed - although no hangover yesterday which was a bit of a result in itself...........Cooked breakfast yesterday morning followed by more hotel buffet lunch..........

All in all not looking too rosy for a good result tonight :o but at least I know to expect that!

Have started again today, got my ainsley h cupasoup (fabulous and thick, but low fat and low cal if anyone fancies trying them they're lovely) and my fruit and little stars jelly, so am back on the straight and narrow once more - I've even cancelled a lunch meeting for today!!! (Although this does have more to do with work pressures and a couple of things that have come up!)

Sorry this ones so long, just wanted to confess all before WI tonight!!!!!! Will reveal the extent of the horrors tomorrow.........!!!!

Hi guys, only lost 1lb this week. Ah well 1lb is 1lb is suppose. still that is now 40lbs in total.
  • Delly please would you put me down for 1.5 lbs this week, so 10.5lbs this month so far and a total of 11.5lb.

I'm a happy granny, although it's taken a few embaressing moments. I sent back a salmon salad that I'd requested with no dressing as the potatoes had mayonnaise on them. I know it's my right as the customer and if it was something like an allergy I wouldn't have a problem with making a fuss. But somehow when it's to do with weight loss it feels different. I suppose it's because I'm imagining everyone looking and thinking how fat I am, why am I bothering when it's so clearly a lost cause ...... and so on.:o

Any advice for dealing with such situations?

1969baby I think that when I'm eating healthily I should have only food that I really really like. And to some extent, b***** the cost. So I what I've got this week is ready prepared mango and pineapple, blueberries, fennel, good fillet steak, interesting fish (I think it's bass), sweet potatoes sliced and dry roasted, large prawns.

I don't eat all ofthat for every meal. Even I would burst. And what I LOVE (but I know I'm weird) is ready prepared brussel sprouts, cooked in the bag then eaten with salt and basalmic vinegar.
  • Hey all, well today I've had Muesli for breakie, I will have ryvitas with tuna & sweetcorn mayo for lunch. And I have a lovely piece of smoked haddock that I will steam for dinner, with the last of my salad and prob steamed green beans.

I weighed myself this morn and the odd 0.4lb has gone. I really hope my TOTM will hurry up as I reckon most of what I've put on is down to this!

  • a1969baby Well done for eating the dinner that your mum prepared and then putting the matter behind you and getting on with day1 today. That meal won't ruin anything for you just slow things down for a day or so. I got upset when my DD went off to uni, she was only about 15 miles away but I still blubbed like a baby:o . Serendisglair is right, instead of reaching for the comfort carbs, go out and enjoy your freedom because your son will be back home before you know it complete with 3 months dirty laundry  :rotfl: ...

...justmarried :rotfl: :rotfl: I'm sorry, but I laughed so much at your post, blimey talk about having obstacles stacked against you, but you know what? My first thought was 'at least she's not making any excuse not to go to RC class for weigh in' :T :T so well done :j When I used to go to WW there were loads of folk that wouldn't go if they'd had a bad week and when you think about it, that's when you should go! I'm willing to bet that the damage won't be half as bad as you expect. Can you tell me more about the raspberry pudding that you did in the slow cooker please?...

...Well done granny bindi katyk misty on your losses:j every little bit helps and soon adds up :j ...

...grannynise I agree with you about buying what you want and s*d the cost. I'v e found that I spend less now than I did before because I only eat what I need and don't throw loads of stuff away; if your going to make sure you stick to a diet you have to make it as interesting as I can and not feel deprived. MrP says that we always eat better when I'm dieting and now we're managing to stick to it day in day out. Regarding resaurant foods I've(well,MrP actually;) ) asked for stuff to be prepared in healthier ways and never felt anything about it, it's my money and if they don't help then they lose out! I've never been anywhere that hasn't been prepared to help so perhaps I've been lucky. Strangely, even with my lack of confidence I've never thought that people would be looking and thinking anything untoward - now you've got me thinking what they might have thought :rotfl: :o...

    xxxx

    sorry I keep rambling peeps
I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!
  • [ Can you tell me more about the raspberry pudding that you did in the slow cooker please?...

    Hi pet!

Slow cooker pudding was from a recipe book I found called 'Fix it and forget it Lightly', loads of low fat slow cooker recipes so am slowly working my way through although this was the first time I'd had a go at a pudding!

All amounts are american so bear that in mind - lots of cup measurements going on - ajax, no comments please, thats the sort of thing you'd pick up on!!! ;) So, if memory serves me well......

Mix together dry ingredients of 1 cup plain flour, 2 tbsp sugar (I used the half and half stuff), bit of ground cinammon.

Mix together wet ingredients: 1 beaten egg, 1/4 cup skimmed milk, 2 tbsp canola oil (I found some in sainsbury thats got a red colour to it as its mixed with something else but you could prob use grapeseed or groundnut or something like that - I haven't properly worked out what 'canola' is yet!!!) and then add to the dry ingredients and beat into what the book calls a 'batter' - more like a really thick cake mix.

Spread over the bottom of your slow cooker.

Take 2 cups raspberries & 2 cups blueberries (sains didn't have any blueberries so I used all raspberries, yum) and mix with 2 cups sugar. layer over the batter/mix.

Cook for 2 1/2 hours on high (although my bottom was a bit crusty - again ajax, no comments please! so I'd prob do for 2 hours next time)

Dead easy but very yummy although not the most attractive of puds to serve up!!!! Book says its about 200 cals per serving and recipe is for 8 - thought that was quite good for a scrummy pudding!!!! Although depends how much you eat I suppose........and whether you have creme fraiche too.........:p I'd saved up some cals from lunch time to use for dinner but the starter and main were almost 'free' due to the amount of veg I used!

How are you finding being back on SW again Ajax - unlimited bowls of cous cous, you must be in heaven. And as for Anne Franks drumkit....well, the least said the better....(but now I have an explaination for your dirty mind:rotfl: ).

..... that's extremely harsh :) SW is fine but then WW was fine also. I have to admit though, going back to sensible sized portions of couscous was a delight. The flip side is that our large 3.5 point pittas are a whole day's syns on SW, and I daren't even look into the Subway thing. Oh well:rolleyes:

I'd much rather lose 1/2 - 1lb per week and still enjoy my life than to suffer and have everyone else suffer around me too and lose 2lbs per week.

... absolutely right. If you have to sacrifice your life to lose weight then what is the point of losing weight to improve your life?

All amounts are american so bear that in mind - lots of cup measurements going on
    :j
    - ajax, no comments please,
    :(

And here's the unbelievable news... I'm going on the wagon for 16 days. :rotfl: Not a drop of alcohol shall pass these lips until Friday 12th October :) (EDIT: starting tomorrow :))

Hi guys lost half a pound this week which means 6.5lb off in three weeks. 2.5lbs to my first target which will take me to the top of my healthy BMI range. Next target after that will be to get another 5lbs off to take me to WW goal weight and I've set a target at WW today to get 8.5lbs off by Christmas. Should be achievable and I think it's quite realistic although I know it will be harder now as I am a lot closer to my ideal weight. So glad I didn't pig out too much during the pregnancy with hayden or it would have been so much harder now.

Anyway that slow cooker recipe sounds fab. I made rice pudding in mine the other day and it was yummy. I really enjoyed it, tasted so creamy and worked out at only 2 points per serving!
