  • I've had my welcome letter by email from coop one day after switching.

They are showing a supply start date of 3 Jan, state they don't apply to take over until after the 14 day cooling off period and my switch will be complete on day 35.... so much for faster switching !

I am worried that at this rate the new increased EON tariff will probably cost me more than the £60 exit fee :(

As I said before. Stop the switch.

With my new supplier just emailed me their time frame.

    Dates to remember
Your cooling-off period ends on: 13 Dec 2016
You'll start getting energy from us on: 21 Dec 2016
We'll ask for your opening meter readings on: 16 Dec 2016
If you want to cancel, you'll need to call us before: 14 Dec 2016

Mable I think you may be mixing me up with ToToMan ?
I have changed to a no exit-fee tariff with EON already and I am now switching to coop.

The no exit-fee tariff with EON is more expensive than the EON tariff I was previously on with a £60 exit fee. I am concerned about the length of time I'm going to be on it as it may cost me more than it would have to stay with the the £60 exit fee tarriff !

I thought coop did faster switching but according to my welcome letter

Day 15 at the end of the cooling off period we apply to take over your energy supply
Day 22 you'll send us you meter readings
Day 32 you settle your bill with your old supplier and close the account
Day 35 Your switch is complete

    Supply start date 3/1/2017

I'm in the process of switching to Co-Op Energy..
Does anyone know how I find out if coop energy does faster switching?
    Yes, they do.

poppasmurf can I ask, if coop have told you they do faster switching how long is your switch taking ?

I switched to Better Energy for gas and People for Places for electricity. For both providers there is a 14 day cooling off period and the supply starts 7 days later - day 21. My previous provider (BG) emailed me a couple of days after I signed up so it looks like the application to switch goes to your old provider at the start of the cooling-off period. It doesn't sound like Co-op Energy do faster switching.

  • I fixed late October to Jan 2019. All scams with mine are other providers are now costing more.

Slippers are on, fire is on. Toes are warm!
  • Can someone tell me if I have worked this out correctly ? Maths is not my strong point !

Taken from my EON account & assuming it takes 35 days to switch to coop

23/10/15 to 1/2/16 each day at a glance you used
    ELECTRIC 9.9kwh a day

previous EON tariff (£60 exit fee)
    TCR11.86 x 9.9 x 35 days = 41.09

new EON tariff (no exit fee)
    TCR 15.22 x 9.9 x 35 days = 52.73

    (coop tariff from 3/1/17 £12.71)

    GAS 32.2 kwh a day

    old EON tariff TCR 3.13 x 32.2 x 35 days = 35.27
    new EON tariff TCR 4.31 x 32.2 x 35 days = 48.57

    (co-op tarriff from 3/1/17 £3.78)

    gas increase EON 13.30
    electric increase EON 11.64
    increase for 35 days approx. = £24.94

I know this is only an estimate and depends on usage, but hopefully if I'm careful the additional price of the EON tariff should be less than the £60 exit fee I would have paid ?

    Thanks

  • Skint. How long is your EON fixed for? The Coop round BoP's pad is only fixed for 12 months, mine was fixed in October until Jan 2019. I could save 12 a year switching, but the deals are poor at the moment.
  • poppasmurf can I ask, if coop have told you they do faster switching how long is your switch taking ?

They haven't given me a specific date, but the email said Christmas may delay matters.
