Would you switch now and pay £60 exit fee

I get my gas from Ebico because I'm a low user and there is no standing charge.
My electricity supply comes from SSE. Last year I took out a one year fixed tariff which ends at the beginning of January. Like others, I was beginning to get a little worried about possible increasing prices for energy.
However, SSE have a 3 year fixed tariff, and having check how much I can expect to pay annually, it seems I will only be paying about £12 a year extra, which doesn't seem excessive considering I'll be protected from any massive increases over the next three years.0 -
Unfortunately neither Ebico or SSE are competitive for me in my area I would be paying more than the EON standard tariff but I am glad you found a good deal whattochoose.❤️Mum 2018

I look at a few things when I look at changing supplier one is the price per unit and another is the daily charge, then there is the exit fees if there is no substantial saving to be had then I don't move, with my present free-time tariff there is a £30 per service cancellation charge so any saving would be minus £60 off any predicted saving advertised then there is the price per unit presently over 12p per unit and over 3p with BG. Some offers are too good to be true when I have looked closely into them as the daily charge is more or the unit price is nearly the same and they are expecting the person to use more than I normally would to achieve the savings claimed. The savings could only be made if the heating was on 24/7, even in summer, and set to at least 22 degrees. I would rather wear an extra layer of clothing and fingerless gloves than pay for a toasty house even when I am not in.Someone please tell me what money is0

Also, worth looking at separate suppliers for gas & electric as they are usually cheaper than a dual fuel deal.Skint_yet_Again wrote: »hadn't considered that - would EON allow that ? Could do with EON rep feedback - should I post on one of their threads ?
My current usage £679.02 pa - direct debit currently £58 per month
I've done just that in the last few days.
I was on the MSE Fix which was due to expire in February 2017.
I'm in the process of switching to Co-Op Energy. I know it doesn't have the best of ratings but it can't affect the way the electric is delivered."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. Morning Skint yet Again,
Thank you everyone and thanks ASavvyBuyer, that's correct we have said before that you can change between the E.ON tariffs and we won't charge the exit fee.
If you then decided to change supplier, that would be up to you.
You would stay on that tariff until your change of supply had gone through, some suppliers like ourselves do the faster switching, so takes about 2 weeks and 3 working days.
But it can take longer sometimes.

Thanks Helena & everyone who provided advice you've all been really helpful.
I am struggling to work out how much extra I would pay if I go on the higher exit-fee-free tariff for 6 weeks and whether it would be likely to be anywhere near the exit fees of £60.
Does anyone know how I find out if coop energy does faster switching?❤️Mum 2018

Yes, they do."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Blimey I've only gone and done it
I've switched to the more expensive EON tariff with no exit fees.
The new tariff is showing on my online EON account. I understand I now have to wait until tomorrow before I start the transfer to coop. Am going round turning things off to save as much energy as possible in the next few weeks until the switch takes place !❤️Mum 2018

Skint_yet_Again wrote: »Thanks Eric - I think its the "switch NOW" that is getting me anxious and the message that all the cheap deals are disappearing.
Just wanted to say that I'm in the same boat (fixed in until end of January and anxious about price increases) so I found all these comments helpful and reassuring.
My problem is that I am still in my first year in this property and Green Star weren't able to move over my gas supply until March, so I'm still trying to work out how much my usage actually is over the full year.0 -
