Would you switch now and pay £60 exit fee

Morning Skint yet Again,
Thank you everyone and thanks ASavvyBuyer, that's correct we have said before that you can change between the E.ON tariffs and we won't charge the exit fee.
If you then decided to change supplier, that would be up to you.
You would stay on that tariff until your change of supply had gone through, some suppliers like ourselves do the faster switching, so takes about 2 weeks and 3 working days.
But it can take longer sometimes.
Helena
Helena/Malc,
As a loyal and largely satisfied Eon customer for the past 13 years, I sadly decided to switch suppliers last Friday due to your firm's apparent unwillingness to offer a competitive fixed term deal. I am moving to separate suppliers for my gas and electricity.
Today I received notification from my new gas supplier that my proposed supply start date will be 19th December. I have yet to receive confirmation from my new electricity supplier but I expect a similar start date from them.
When I initiated the switches last Friday, I was not aware of the possibility to switch from my current fixed Eon tariff onto the standard plan before then switching to a new supplier, thereby avoiding the £60 exit fee. Can I still do this now even though my switch to a new supplier has already been initiated but is not expected to complete for another 3 weeks?
Thanks in advance.0 -

Hi ToTo Man,
I'm sorry that you've decided to leave us, especially as a good customer. I understand we didn't have a competitive tariff for you to change on to
It sounds like your account will now be in the loss pending state, this is where we have received notification that you are changing supplier.
Accounts at this stage can't have any changes made to them, so you wouldn't be able to change tariff now at this point.
Sorry to see you go.

I suggest logging in to your online e.on account and try to change tariff. If it does not allow it, sorry but its too late. However, your new company may not have contacted e.on yet; some smaller suppliers wait for the 14 day cooling off period to expire before they contact the old supplier. Iresa certainly wait at least 14 days.0 -
My sign up to coop is complete !
It says "The switching process can take up to 21 days to complete. This does not include the statutory 14 day cooling off period"
I hope it doesn't take that long, we shall see ...❤️Mum 2018

As you are in the cooling off period you could cancel the proposed switches and then move to a fee free tariff with E.on. Once confirmed start the process over again.0 -

Thank you both. I've looked at the figures again, and since I'm a higher than average energy user (around 45,000kWh gas and 7,000kWh electric per annum), most of the savings from avoiding the £60 exit fee are likely going to be swallowed up during the next three weeks if I move onto their standard variable tariff which is 43% more expensive than my current v19 deal, especially if December is a cold month. So I think I'll just sit tight, avoid the hassle and face the £60 exit fee.0 -
The clock is now ticking. I have it now confirmed with E.on I am on a fee free exit tariff. I have found a new company via TCP and they are offering cash back of £15.00. The new supplier is signed up for faster switching so I have worked out the extra I am paying e.on should be covered with the cash back amount.
I have always been a great supporter of E.on and their service and online help is excellent. Helen and Malc have been real stars and thank them very much for all their endeavours.
Like other contributors to this forum it comes down to price and if I stayed with E.on my DD would rise from £46 to £66 a month.0 -

That goes for myself and apparently lots of other folk on this Forum.
I'm sorry to be leaving the company but I'm not staying at a cost 30-40% more than I have been paying.
Hopefully, the Eon Reps will convey to the big cheeses at Eon the damage they are doing to their own company by not offering competitive tariffs. I've lost count of the number of Eon customers on this forum alone who have left or are leaving."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Morning poppasmurf_bewdley,
I'm sorry that you've decided to leave us, I understand we couldn't offer you a better tariff.
Malc has been collecting loads of feedback from the posters on the forum and sending this on to senior managers and completing reports.
We are sorry to see you go.
Thank you
