Well if you've read the thread, there's one case right here where it worked.

Loving your idea that you need to move somewhere away from renters. Snob. Sounds like you two kids do need to run back to mummy and daddy and their nice big detached house until you're ready for the real world.

Look, problem neighbours can be HELL, and yes you can end up moving and losing money but it being the only way. Maybe this lot are really a problem. Are they private renting or social housing renting? (you'd have to look a little further down your nose to check the latter...) if so, you could complain to their landlord.

    1. Speak to neighbor

    2. Start a noise diary

    3. If no change approach council and present noise diary. Council will write to your neighbor.

    4. If it continues council will install noise monitoring equipment and follow up as required.

    5. Fall out with your neighbor (probably at step 3 actually) OR neighbor will have done something about it.

I'm out now, this is going back off topic again and around in circles.

Every one saying it's a bit of noise it's not. If it was faint noises in the background that was easily masked over by the tv or radio it would be different. There big loud bangs normally every few minutes. Has any body sound proofed a house with success. I've not read one case yet where it's helped.

I live in a house in a field

    No neighbours

All I look outl on are fields, cows and sheep

    And wind turbines

And they, in the silence are noisy as !!!!

May I suggest a hermatically sealed bubble somewhere? Because seriously, life is noisy. You either cope with it or go mad. Coping is usually the better option

If the noise is from children, I don't think the council will take any action at all.
  • Why not get somebody to install sound insulation in all of your attached walls? Would be a hell of a lot chaper than moving of having kids.

Surely you must like the house at least to some extent, its just the little sods next door annoying you.
  • I'm not saying every where should be silence. But it would be nice to just be able to sit in your living room and be able to relax with out hearing the almighty bangs from the kids next door playing up stairs. I'm no way being snobby about this. Ive lived in semi detached all my life and never really heard the neighbours. Just the odd bang here and there. Now I've moved here and it's the odd seconds of silence here and there.

I don't understand what more you're hoping this thread will provide. You've been given several pieces of advice. Have you tried any of them?
  • Dunno what I was hoping for tbh. Proberly some one that has had the same issue I really don't no. So my options are. Selling, but is obviously the worst decision financially, but the quickest fix. Put up with it and get on with it. Or rent out for 6months move back to parents save hard then move and take the mortgage with us. So am I right in saying if we were to move we can take are mortgage (as long as it's portable) and won't have to pay an early repayment charge. That's what he issue is cos we fixed for 5 years. If it were only a few thousand I could deal with loosing that.

As the saying goes "the grass is always greener on the other side".

Sometimes it's not. In fact could be a lot worse.

The only people who can tell you about moving house on the same mortgage is your mortgage provider. CALL THEM. Take the advice on this thread, and make an informed decision.
