The noise is more excessive than any one else we know who lives in a semi or terrist. We can sit round other people's for hours and here next to nothing. You could go and sit in our lounge and count the bangs one 2 hands in a couple of minutes some times. Obviously it's not constant banging none stop all day but it feels like it.every few minutes there's normally a noise. No we can't control the neighbours but can choose a slightly better area where next door is private Aswell (these rent ) and generally the better the area the better the people. Obvsioly that doesn't apply every where and not digging at people who rent I mean just on the whole.0

So DO something about it. You've posted on here a number of times - go and talk to your neighbours!
Or throw money away by moving immediately. Your call.0 -
That reply was helpfully thanks ^0

But, as I said earlier, you said you were only there for an hour a day.
As a couple, you may have children of your own at some point - do you really want to have neighbours who come round to complain at every little noise the children make? (Much less the big noises!)0 -
We're here all day after we finish work. I meant we only use the living room for around an hour. I would control my children a little better. As these have friends around all the time so the children just do as they please really. There's a difference between playing and then there's playing let's see who can make the biggest bang.0

Ah the good old classic non-parent dropping the "If I were a parent" line.
This thread seems to have got a little off-topic and kind of pointless, as you already have in your mind what you want to do. I'm not really sure why it is on the mortgages board anyhow, given you don't appear to have any questions relating to mortgages.
Is there anything you specifically want to know in relation to your mortgage in this situation, other than, as you have already identified, you will have to pay an early repayment charge, unless you look to move house and port your mortgage rate, if your lender will allow it?
Failing that, ask your lender if you can rent your house out and then go into rented yourselves.0 -
^^ there kids running riot upstairs now. I can gaurentee mine would be asleep in bed at 10.45 on a Saturday night. It was a question about mortgage ect but sort of took its own route. Do some mortgage company's have a problem with renting your home for a few month. Also some one said you would have to pay tax on rental income. How does that work.0

Different lenders have different policies on it. Your best route would be to contact your lender and discuss their policy on it and apply and see what the outcome is if you wish to go down that route.
Tax implications will be different next year with the removal of certain allowable expenses. Your best route for advice here will be a tax advisor / accountant. Most mortgage advisors are not qualified to provide tax advice. In general, some (all?) landlords will be hit with higher tax bills than at present. Changes come into force in the new tax year and the extent to which people will be affected will depend on their mortgage interest and if they are high rate tax payers or not and will change further over the following years (to ease in more tax being collected....) - That's about as much as I want to write on here, sorry it isn't more specific but I don't really want to cross the line of facts and advice. Like I said - accountant / tax advisor will be the best port of call as you could then explain your full circumstances in order to get an accurate answer.0 -
Need to man up "health is better than money" it's a bit of noise. It sounds like a lovely house that a LOT of people would love to live in. It's had enough for you to chuck away thousands but not bad enough to have a quick word with the neighbours.
Bit of sound proofing would massively help and be far cheaper than the masses you would lose selling it.
We would all like to live in a big detached house perfect for us with no compromises but the majority of normal people will have things they don't like about there house.0 -
Every one saying it's a bit of noise it's not. If it was faint noises in the background that was easily masked over by the tv or radio it would be different. There big loud bangs normally every few minutes. Has any body sound proofed a house with success. I've not read one case yet where it's helped.0
