Catalogue to improve credit rating?

JD Williams are apparently the easiest to get. They are expensive but you can find loads of voucher codes online so prices are ok with the discount. I have several catalogs and it hasn't stopped me being accepted for credit cards. I believe managed correctly they are fine.0

I think your rating is established by lenders looking at your past credit history. This is surely obtained when you make a new application for "credit" I appreciate a score is not worth anything. As it's a lenders criteria, that decides if it falls into what they want as giving you a credit line. I asked a couple of questions on my original post. That is what i'm hoping to have answered.
Lenders might "score" you based on the data you supply on application but they don't see your credit score.
Maybe a credit card would do the same job as a catalogue account, just pay it off in full.0 -
Does a catalogue have a negative effect? i.e like a payday loan etc. Is it good to get one and establish a history with the ability to repay etc.
You are hoping for a 'one size fits all' answer which isn't possible.
No, catalogues are not in the same category at PDLs but then if you apply for credit with a lender that doesn't like applicants who have catalogues then they just as well be.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
