What is going on with talktalk current prices???

I have contacted TalkTalk a few times lately, I spoke to one advisor in the loyalty team. After spending almost an hour on the phone exploring the new packages, and being told over and over to renew on one of the new packages, I had a really good offer as follows:
negative:
lost the free landline / mobile uk calls which i received for free last year because of the security breach at the end of last year.
Lost £2.00 call package discount I had for 12 months.
Plus:
Retained my essential package (free local/national calls after 7pm weekday and all weekend
Retained my free international boost to 32 countries calling landlines/mobiles.
Secured £5.75 monthly discount for 9 months (50% discount on the essential package)
the best of all, did not agree to a new contract (30 day rolling contract)
Total to pay: £16.11 a month (paid already for 18 months via Vaslue Line Rental), and £5.75 a month for the essential package.
Keeping my current package, retaining some discount and not agreeing to a new contact. I think I am a winner here
I also got talktalk to confirm deal via there customer forum.
Happy days

Today, I manage to bag myself a £2.00 call discount for 6 months, bringing the essentials package down to £3.75 a month - If you dont ask / haggle, you dont get

I pushed my luck with TalkTalk again and asked for the £2.00 call discount I had before for 12 months. After speaking to several advisors and being transferred to a loyalty manager, i was offered a £2.00 call discount for 6 months. this brings my broadband down from the original price of £11.50 a month, down to £5.75 a month, and reduced again to £3.75 per month. I am so pleased. I intend to call them again in May 2017.
Its good to ask for discounts

I've just been talking to TalkTalk about renewing my contract and have found them just as intransigent as other posters have reported. It looks to me as if Sky's current £15 pm deal is by far the cheapest available. The same from TalkTalk is £20 after much haggling. Looks like after almost 10 years I'll be leaving them.0

hello dprive, ring them back, ask the loyalty team to match the sky deal, if you dont get what you want, ask to escalate to a manager, as they can do more than the front line advisorsTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -

Hi, thanks for your comments, however, I've already spent considerable time talking to them (TT) and eventually you reach a stalemate situation. I think it's probably time to make a statement and move to a different provider.

As I reported in my previous post in this thread, I reached the stalemate point too but rather more quickly, actually within an hour. Reading between the lines of previous posts I'd say that it all depends on who at TalkTalk is spoken to. TalkTalk should have been more consistent in preserving current discounts and should not have tried it on making the final price apparently widely differing from customer to customer.0 -

I persevered and eventually spoke to a member of the loyalty team. After a lengthy discussion, they effectively matched Sky's offer over 12 months and then I revert back to £20pm for the final 6 months of the 18 month contract. All very time consuming, but worth an hour or so of my time.0 -
