You have been spoiled so expect good deals all the time. It's very rare to get a double calls package free.

If you can't get a deal, try elsewhere, but no one is feeling over generous.

I would not say "spoiled" is the correct term here. More of i have used the guidance of bargaining from moneysavingexpert, and they have paid off through signing up yearly with talktalk, sometimes the advisers have also enjoyed the banter!!

This year is proving a little tricky, mainly because talktalk want their customers, both current and new to sign onto their current packages, which are more (even if landline is included or not) compared to previous packages.

I will try again though :)

I have found my fibre package price has gone down with talk talk signed up to the new 18 month contract..Like the previous poster said the prices include line rental

The wider issue is what will happen in the comparatively near future. TalkTalk has already set the scene by demanding subscribers sign a new 18 month contract to get the new fixed tariff. So in the near future if TalkTalk bring out a better tariff for new customers and existing customers move to it a new 18 months contract is likely. Taking that to its logical conclusion, it's likely that subscribers will have TalkTalk for the rest of their lives! Does anyone actually think that TalkTalk will not offer a new tariff in the near future?

Personally with TalkTalk I was getting a line and up to 38Mbps fibre for line only price of £17.70p a month for 12 months until Feb 18 2017. I had the option of moving to the new tariff immediately for £27.00 a month or keeping the discount and paying £34 a month from Feb 18 2017. I moved to Plusnet line and 38 Mbps fibre for £27.50p a month for 18 months. That was worth it to escape what I regarded as slavery at the hands of TalkTalk!

    Hello Anthorn,

Thank you for your contribution. How long have you been with Plusnet, and how do they compare with TalkTalk??

    Hello Anthorn,

I moved from TalkTalk to Plusnet on November 15 2016 so too early to review it yet. What I have noted is that fibre speed which was in the region of 15 - 18 Mbps on TalkTalk increased to 23 - 28 Mbps on Plusnet measured on my iPhone SE on AC wifi. Other than that the switch was on time, my phone line was converted (probably to BT or BT compatible) for free and broadband connection was free. Lastly 18185 works.

I moved from Sky to PlusNet lest month ( a similar move ie from LLU) and my ADSL has plummeted . Over wifi I was getting 6 to 6.4mbps on a regular basis, from Sky and 5 to 5.4 , before that from O2 (so delighted with the increase at Sky). Now my into the house speed (don't know the correct term) is only 5.3, so much less over wifi and every day there are drops and completed cut offs ,some needing a modem reboot (on my second modem, already).

    Another vote for Plusnet here:

I switched last Friday (18 Nov) from BT Infinity 1 (52Mb/s) to Plusnet Fibre Unlimited (38Mb/s) [@ £27.50/month plus £70 Topcashback - now £13 Topcashback)].

No problems encountered - I'm even still using my existing BT Home Hub 5A (just changed the broadband settings to username@plusdsl.net and Plusnet password) .

Previously been with O2, Sky and BT and luckily never had any issues with any of them (except for increased prices once the introductory periods were over).

  • I have spoken to the loyalty team a few times now, and with a little bargaining, i think i have come out on top.

I have decided not to renew my contract for the first time in eight years, mainly because of the inflated prices / poor discounts available. Instead I have decided to remain on my essential package.

I have lost my free local/international call boost, but i have kept my free evening / weekend local and national calls.

I have kept my unlimited international boost to 36 countries which is free.

    plus unlimited broadband

    I have also secured a £5.75 a month discount for 9 months.

I will no longer be on a 12 month contract, but a 30 day rolling contract.

My total costs will be: no line rental (Paid Value Line Rental upfront already, works out at £16.11 a month)

will be charged a slight increase of: £5.75 a month for the next 9 months, and will need to call back in August 2017.

Total of £21.86 a month (Including VLR) and out of contract, a victory here again, especially as i was offered £20.00 a month under the new packages, which would of included an 18 month contract, no local/national calls, and no international calls included. Bagged a bargain!! Thank you talktalk

I received my final bill from TalkTalk which is £8-odd in credit and I had two choices: Leave it in my account (ROFL) or apply for a refund which if approved I would receive within 10 days. Can anyone guess which I chose?

Re. the previous post, I tried exhaustively to get a better deal but TalkTalk would not budge. It was the offer on the table or nothing. Personally I cannot believe that they preferred to lose a customer who was getting a raw deal who pays on time every time by direct debit. But I'm happier with Plusnet.
