  • Hi Bob its silly really isnt it, i know what my bills are and what i want to spend on everything else.
I think i need to do step 1 Dave Ramsey £1000 emergency fund. Then i wouldnt have this worry.

Thanks jonesy, all in the right direction at least.... long may it continue.....
Still here..... but working on that!
  • Just paid another £30 off the v3ry account, small payment really but better than nothing!

Ive worked out that i should have about £700 spare this month.. after debts have been paid, but due to a low income next month amd possibly the month after im going to be sensible and leave it in my account for a while incase i need it.

Dd is having a new bedroom floor this week, which i have saved for, but i also need to buy her some bedroom furniture as hers has fallen apart! I dont quite know how to do this yet, i need to speal to her really and see what sort of thing she wants.
Still here..... but working on that!

LSD that sounds really sensible. I used to do that every month when i was self-employed, and use it as a buffer for the months when income wasn't as good as in previous months :)

I do feel better having that £1000 EF on Baby Step 1 of the Dave Ramsey plan, makes me worry a little less.

I know the Dave Ramsey way really makes sense, or at least the first couple of steps anyway. Im hoping that when my pay is better in March that ill be able to put a lot more away, and pay more off.

Im thinking of setting myself a challenge, of where i want to be at the end of the year debt wise but im scared of failing and being miserable about it.
I'm realistic and know it wont ALL be paid off this year which im fine with as long as i do my best. I really should do another Soa and see where i am and have a plan. It's so difficult doing an soa with my income varying though. Unless i use my basic income and treat the rest as money towards my 1k emergency fund/debt repayment.

No planned spends today, im in work, and left ds's with mil. Ds (1) is unwell, it broke my heart leaving him but i know he'll be fine.

Got to sort dd's room later for the new flooring, she cant wait and neither can i. Its going to look so nice.
Still here..... but working on that!

Sorry your little man is ill.

On goal setting. I think it is wise to have a goal even if you do miss it you will probably get closer to it than just hoping for the best.

I find goals help for me to track my progress, eg I'm 20% there now, next month I'll be 25% etc etc. They help me to see light at the end of the tunnel. They are only a forecast to me, so if something I would've have known about pops up I just readjust.
