How to get new cabinet for broadband installed?

We have pretty poor broadband speed in our area (4-7mb). During the local elections earlier this year, one candidate said she was going to get BT to sort getting a new cabinet installed. However she wasn't elected and nothing has happened.
I am not sure how to move forward on this. I spoke to the local MP's office and they said that BT are researching where to put the cabinet We live in London.
Any ideas for how to move this forward?

We have the same, in Staffordshire. However, until now I've had 5 to 5.4 or 6 to 6.4 over wifi, with previous , but the service with this one (Plusnet) is terrible; constant drops to speeds too poor to even turn a page on a forum or read an email.0

Contact the BDUK scheme for you area.
Failing that, if you and others in the area are prepared to put your hand in your pocket, investigate the community funded partnerships from Openreach.0 -
Supply and demand , needs enough people to register their interest
There may also be planning restrictions about new cabinets , Kensington and Chelsea for example was halted at one point as the council were blocking all attempts to site new cabinets as not in keeping with the areaEx forum ambassador

Could be worth contacting and or checking http://www.superfaststaffordshire.co.uk/ to see if there are any plans for fibre in your area.
They were very helpful and informative during the fibre installation (and new combined cabinet) in my village, last May.
I'm also with Plusnet and have been for some years and on their 40/2 fibre package. My download and upload are consistently 37.5 and 1.9 respectively.
However, that's of no use to you if you are experiencing a problem with your service! What do PN say? Have you tried their online "community"?0 -

Our exchange is enabled and the PlusNet lady, who 'signed me up' said we are due at the end of December.
I posted on the community forum, yesterday and there are dozens complaining about frequent drops ( especially gamers) with ADSL and fibre.
CS told me I'd need to give settling time of 14 days (though he site says only 10),then one person did a test and said the upload speed (or lack of it) indicated a faulty modem. A new one cut the number of drops (still a few brief ones that stop even forum page turns or longer ones needing a reboot).
I tried to communicate about the website's suggestion that they will charge you over equipment tested and shown to not be faulty ,as I they decided on a replacement but was cut off on chat; phone waits too long (I can't stand that awful 'music').
I will call about this, in the week, when phones are less busy and ask about an increase from 5.3 for incoming speed, as it's lower than I've had with the last two providers (over 7 years)0 -

Yes, I read that and my connection has also been a bit dodgy over the weekend (contrary to my "consistently" remark!).
If you have a master socket with a removable faceplate then try plugging into the test socket behind it to eliminate any problems with your internal cabling, extensions and plug ins. If your speed(s) improve then that could indicate an internal problem.0 -
Do you have any local businesses, i live in Dudley and a couple local businesess paid for the cabinet to be upgraded as they required fttc0

Broadband delivery UK. Local government (usually council) schemes which uses funding to match BT's investmenet to roll out superfast broadband to more homes and businesses.0
