I always fail to understand why people who seem to suffer from fear of germs bother to book holidays in places that are known to be a risk factor. What's the point of a resting holiday if all you are going to go is convince yourself that anything you touch might contaminate you?
As said at the start of the thread, you could be catching the same virus going to your local swimming pool so will you stop going there too?
You've got to live! So considering that in all likelihood, the contamination will be be eradicated by the time you get there, that knowing there was an issue, you'll be able to take measures to minimised the risk of catching it, is it really the end of the world? If you think so, then stay home as anywhere you might decide to go on holiday could be a risk hazard and it is much worse if you go as it happens rather than afterwards when the problem has been dealt with.0 -

I just hate little chavs who pay 3 star prices but expect 5 star luxury.
A] That goes without saying from you {most ignorant people seem to have a chip on their shoulders}
B} As no cost from the OP has been quoted you have no idea if 3 or 5 star prices were paid for the holiday0 -
Its a four star resort, so presumably OP expected four star luxury.
The hotel also claims to have a "Certificate of Excellence" from Tripadvisor.
I would hope they did only pay 3 star prices though. After all, this site is all about money saving and it is possible to get luxurious experiences for a fair price.
But even if you book one star accommodation, you expect it to be clean.0 -
One star or five star, unless the pool is heated, I would imagine it would be far too cold to swim in in December even if sparkly clean.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

I agree with you final comment but overall star ratings IMO are not worth a jot. One company can class it as a 3 star the next a 4 {as far as I know} based on their own values. So because an hotel has a tennis court {even though it is not in working order} will class at a higher rating than one without.
It is a shame but if a person is lucky enough {as we were} finding an hotel that gives them all they require at xyz price then {I hope} problems do not arise and threads like this one would be a thing of the past but I am sorry to say while places choose to promote ratings people will always have a far higher expectation than perhaps is deserved0
