You're right it doesn't. For Amex I will just continue to use contactless/ chip and pin as usual.
My visa credit card isn't contactless so makes more sense to stick with andoid pay as default for mobile payments.0 -
Bet you were popular at rush hour..
I've tried Amex pay a few times, worked in the pub but not in Tesco. Think I'll stick with Android pay as my default for now.
Fortunately I tried on the tube on an early Saturday morning.
I will definitely stick on Android Pay too, as it failed again in a pub.0 -
Tried in Waitrose this morning, worked just fine. 50% success rate so far.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. Out of interest has anyone tried using their AmEx card w/contactless instead of via the app?
Just wondering as I've found (in the past) places like Morrisons, Tesco and even Boots seemed to prefer me to use AmEx with the physical card rather than via Apple Pay.
If you're being asked to insert your card and enter your PIN then it's likely it's the random security check to verify you're the card-holder.
I was in London a few weeks ago and tried PayQwik at the Covent Garden Metro-needless to say it didn't work! It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Tried Asda today, did not work and had to insert card. That's 1/3 locations worked for me so far. Hopefully teething trouble, and hopefully interim until it's supported by Android Pay in any case.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. Barclays said they wouldn't allow their cards to be placed in Android Pay, preferring to use their own app. Is this still the case?0

Resuming this old thread just to add that Android Pay now supports Amex cards issued by American Express.0
