There's a difference between post arriving because she hasn't changed her address with companies and post arriving because she's still giving that address in order to get new loans.

To establish which it is OP basically needs to read her statements and find out the start date of the loan, and at this point I think we have gone beyond the point at which it is any of their business. The loans are nothing to do with the OP, regardless of what address the ex has given them. It is not really of any interest to the OP whether the ex has committed fraud or just failed to notify of a change of address. All OP needs to do is cross out the address on the envelope and write "Not at this address - return to sender" in big letters and put them back in the post. The loan companies can then take it up with the debtor.

If any bailiffs do arrive, refuse entry as you would any unwelcome visitor.

I think it is extremely unlikely the OP will get into legal trouble for opening the ex's mail, I just don't see the need.

Exactly - and I am not sure what 'reasonable excuse' the OP would have for opening mail addressed to her?

I'm not even entertaining your position. It is not a crime to open mail. That really is the end of the matter. He was not acting to her detriment.

Insurance is with Axa. I informed them that she was the owner and I was the main driver. They insured the car on that information.
The letter from Amigo loans mentions someone called Rebecca. I don't know who that is, but I guess she is the guarantor. I have never signed any agreement. I absolutely hate gambling and have never done it myself apart from the odd lottery ticket or similar.

But you are not the main driver now and the car isn't being kept at the address you gave them.

gawd, do you people not follow this thread at all? I didn't ask about car insurance or home security - just what to do about the eventuality of debt collectors and/or bailiffs turning up at my door, plus the problem of her using this address to obtain money.

That's been answered - we're actually trying to help you getting into more of a mess.
  • Could you give the bailiffs her work address if they knock on your door so they can they can seize her car if its parked nearby in her name to pay her outstanding debts so the poor guarantor 'Rebecca' doesn't end up paying your exes debts.

Try and help with other issues that will occur and this, wonder why sometimes people ask for advice at all

I may be wrong but I believe the owner of the vehicle must be the primary driver - so the policy is probably already invalid

    - unless it's a multi car policy

For future reference, you are wrong. It's whoever drives the car most who should be named primary driver. I checked that because my husband did more of the driving than me. When he died recently I phoned to let my current insurance company know and add my daughter as a named driver. They commented that he had been down as the main driver and asked who the main driver would now be.
    . . .I did not speak out

    Then they came for me
And there was no one left
    To speak out for me..
