Well a few days after making my original post I came home and she had taken the car, her personal belongings and a few other things, so I have nothing. Since then she has occasionally popped round to pick up post for her and although I know where she works, I don't know where she lives.
As there was a lot of mail I got curious and opened her mail and then chucking most of it in the bin. It transpires that she is using my address when she lives elsewhere and borrowing money. Since mid-November she has bowed £2000 on her car from CarCashPoint, A default notice from Satsuma, a notice of Judgement arrears from BWlegal for £1,223.36, and a letter from Amigo loans advising of a failed monthly payment of £103.06. She is obviously using my address to borrow money with no intention of paying it back (I guess to gamble it instead). I guess that there will be a line of debt collectors and/or bailiffs coming here - thinking that this is her address. Does anyone know if I can prevent this please. I really don't want all of this aggravation.0 -
You can inform them she doesnt reside there or send the post back marked as "not at this address".
Why not follow her when she comes round next, do you know any of her friends who you could ask where she lives.0 -
I can't follow her - she has a car and I don't. I'm not in contact with any of her friends, so can't find out that way either.
I'm also worried that she may be commiting fraud, by using a false address in order to obtain money (deception ? )0 -
Just send the mail back unopened, no longer at this address from (date).0

Either open the mail and write to each company saying that she doesn't live at your address any more - say you don't know where she lives now - or just mark the envelopes to say the same and repost the them.
If she still has a key, change the locks so that she can't get in the house when you aren't there.
Don't hand over any more post to her if she calls round - best not to answer the door to her.
Have you cancelled the car insurance?0 -
No I haven't cancelled it. The policy was paid in full for a year. It's in my name as the main driver (it was a lot cheaper), and she paid it. I suppose technically the insurance isn't valid now as I don't drive it at all, and it's no longer kept on the drive overnight at this address. I know what she's doing, but it's not in my nature to respond like for like. In my eyes I would just be being nasty for no real reason.0

No real reason? How about protecting yourself - the insurance is in your name and you know that the terms of the insurance are not being adhered to and yet you're not notifying the insurance company?
If you named yourself as the main driver when it was really your ex, you've already committed insurance fraud.0 -
When we took the policy out I was the main driver. I drove her to work and picked her up, plus used the car during the day. I didn't commit insurance fraud.0

Then it's her commiting the offence isn't it? she has the policy and is aware of the details on it.0
