    That wasn't me.

But in relation to the poster concerned, did you not incorrectly state:

when it's plain enough to see from the video that the vehicle that the recording was being made from didn't stop at all.
If you can't even get this basic fact correct, instead of which making things up in an attempt to bolster your argument, why should anyone with any sense take notice of what else you write?

And what do you do when it records a dozen or more people approaching/passing your car. Unless you have a camera positioned in such a way that it actually catches vandalism in the act then it's not really much use for that purpose.

As I said it might help identify the culprit. For example, my cameras often show the person who parked next to me walking away. If I later found my car was damaged, he would be the prime suspect.
Obviously, unless the video show a vandal in the act, it would not prove he was at fault.
I know of one person who has fitted 4 cameras to cover 360 degrees.

I have a pretty good idea who did it but can't prove it and where it's parked would certainly capture the culprit on camera, without a doubt. He's the type of person who would likely be a repeat offender.
  • Is there any way that you could get coverage from an external cctv camera?
The problem with using an in car camera is that if the culprit notices it, you may well find that you end up with a smashed window and the dashcam gone if ghey think that they have been recorded.

That would most likely draw attention to themselves. It's one thing walking past a car with a key in your hand, virtually unnoticed by anyone in the vicinity, but to attempt to smash a window in broad daylight with a risk of being caught is quite another. Any vehicles or people entering the area would be captured on the dashcam.

Perhaps if he notices you have a dash cam, this will deter him.

If the car is parked outside your property, another option you might wish to consider would be to install CTV.
