  • ah perhaps I need to pay a bit more attention, mind you I am driving at the moment, updating my facebook status and eating my breakfast while shaving. Thats my excuse anyway ...

Which ones have the ability to record whilst parked up? I recently had my car keyed, causing extensive damage. I'd love to be able to catch the culprit should it ever happen again.

You generally need to get them hard wired into the battery for them to continue recording along with a delay switch.

Mine is set to continue recording for five minutes after I park.

If you want to catch a vandal or hit and run, bear in mind the viewing angle of a front view camera may not pick it up.

I have a two channel system (Front facing camera and back facing camera) which would pick it up.

You MAY be able to pick up a vandal if the system you have includes a shock sensor eg it's set to record if the system detects a bump. Some systems allow you to adjust the sensitivity.

When you buy a system, consider a system you can review clips, download clips and adjust the settings via an app on your smart phone. This can make things easier for you

Most of them do, they start up when the G-sensor is triggered. But the act of keying wouldn't be enough to trigger it.

Nor would a camera likely pick it up when done from the side.

Parking mode was a very important feature for me and I chose Thinkware F770 HD front and rear.
You might catch the culprit as he approaches your car, if you activate motion detection.

And what do you do when it records a dozen or more people approaching/passing your car. Unless you have a camera positioned in such a way that it actually catches vandalism in the act then it's not really much use for that purpose.
  • Watching the videos on line, they tend to be used by impatient unforgiving ars*oles who make mountains from molehills.

So you think everybody that has a dashcam uploads the videos?
