Personally - this year mine is going to go towards having a bit of money to leave spare in the bank account - what I call "cash flow money". So that I don't land up going accidentally overdrawn.
For the next few years it's basically going to be going towards payments on the new kitchen for this house that I couldn't wait out several years of saving for....
Is eating or avoiding getting bank charges frivolous?:rotfl:0 -

We used four different locations in the house as kitchens while renovating. One of those was the kitchen, minus some of its units, because it was also doubling as an office at that point. I also wired-up the oven in the conservatory for a while. Those move easily enough.
Prior to that, for 6 years we used the kitchen we inherited, which came out of a new build.........from the early 1980s.
Surely if you have bought a kitchen with a loan or on credit, you have already incurred bank charges?0 -

One can prepare meals and eat, even without a proper kitchen. There are many marvellous and not so wonderful portable cooking appliances.

Well - loan charges rather than bank charges 'tis true. But at least - I know exactly what they will be and when they are due to stop and it's a lot lower APR than bank charges. I was very MSE and I've done my research as to the best deal available. Must say I was surprised to find that taking out a loan from the credit union I joined some years back would be a distinctly bad deal. I also noticed some inefficiency when I made enquiries. I shall be closing my account with that and relocating the savings I have in there then. The whole point of belonging to them imo was in case I ever wanted a loan again.
Not looking forward to the disruption when I get that kitchen done:(. Still in planning stages at the moment - I've made quite a few of the decisions about how it will be, but more research to do yet. But must grit teeth and get it done - as previous owners kitchen reflects the fact she didnt seem to do much cooking or have many kitchen items. I cook a lot from scratch/experiment with all sorts/have a lot of kitchen items to help with all that - so it's being very restrictive to me.0 -
I am not a baby boomer, defined as born after 1945. Not me!
I don't think I 'deserve' anything. I'm still a taxpayer. I was very pleased to receive an unexpected letter from HMRC saying I'd paid too much tax in the year ended April.

Before I found wisdom, I became old.0 -
I think nickcc was being ironic/tongue in cheek when he said that - ie with his finishing remark being about getting this himself.
So - first sentence read as "boomer bashing" again - but I came to the conclusion he was joking....0
