Tea

I keep reading about the need for stocking up on tea and I think it is a good idea, but I haven't tried that many.

I used to buy any old teabags but changed to Yorkshire Tea because someone told me they are the only ones on the market that do not contain plastic fibres in the bag, so are 100% truly compostable and you don't get to drink plastic with your cuppa. They are also ethical, which I am glad to support. Except they are rather pricier than others.

I have also drank loose leaf tea from marks and from sainsbobs, both nice.

If I were to stock up, what would you suggest? Loose or bagged, and what brand, or supermarkets own? Thank you.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

We always use loose tea; that way we can use the amount we choose, not a pre-measured amount that a tea-bag manufacturer deems correct.

We get T£sco Finest breakfast tea, Morries Earl Grey and whatever Gunpowder Green I can get my mitts on - I had a job getting it from any of the supermarkets, so I bought online from the Kent Tea Trading Co.

Why is there a need to stock up on tea?

You have me worried now, I couldn't be without my cuppas, is there going to be a shortage?

I best get to the shops if there is!

I don't tend to stick to any brand just buy whats on offer at the time I need some. Currently I am drinking Yorkshire tea as it came in a Grufflo tin.

I used to buy Yorkshire tea but at the moment I have Sainsbury's Basics and I like them. I also like the Lidl ones, sorry can't remember the name.

We have loads of tea as I drink black and OH prefers green.

House mug-tea is Sainsbrees Earl Grey and Clipper Green Tea with Mint.

We occasionally go mad in TKMaxxxxxxxxxxxy if they have Williamsons tea bags in their lovely elephant caddies or Battlers loose leaf. Much prefer loose leaf as you can usually get two brews out of it and it is leaf tea, not tea dust.

We have a small bookcase full of tea caddies/jars and tins - it is fab to try different ones. If you twisted my arm I'd go for a good black loose leaf Darjeeling or a green loose leaf tea - Peacock No1organic mmmmm. OH would have Gyokuru (green loose leaf tea).

I'm dying to try Quangzhou Milk Oolong loose leaf tea - but at £20.65 for 50g it is on the tea bucket list LMAO

Hot off the press at http://www.teatrends.com/article.html?category=Industry lol - apparently tea is bought in $ and since the Brexit thing, the value of the £ has gone down the toilet so it buys fewer dollars and less tea. Long story short - the price is going up.

Of course if we stop buying it - I expect someone will start pricing it as a loss-leader just to get market-share.

    Oh look

:) I buy Sains Red Label loose-leaf tea for use at home and Tosspots Basics teabags for use at w*rk. I don't particularly like teabags but it would be inconvenient to use leaf tea in my office.

I stocked up on the red label yesterday. Buy the empty shelving in the tea aisle, I wasn't the only one with that idea.

I use an ingenui tea infuser as I am on my own. It is a fantastic device for brewing loose tea and then dispenses straight into a mug. I fill it to the top and it fills a large mug. I only ever use loose tea these days but I do ring the changes, Irish breakfast, English breakfast, oolong, green etc At the moment I am using tea from the London tea company, it came with a glass teapot from costco. I have two large mugs a day and that is it. The rest of the time is water or a hot herbal like yogi teas and of course my one cup of freshly ground coffee

I am not buying any more tea in, I have enough, in fact more than enough

Thank you all, now I have to start exploring some of the brands you suggested and settle on the one I like best!
