Am I the only person who is still having trouble?
After speaking to them to confirm the transactions mentioned in the previous post were genuine, I went shopping. I spent £10 in Tesco using contactless, which worked. I then tried to pay for my car parking and the card was declined.
Phoned Tesco, waited 10 minutes for someone to answer who was from the Credit Card team so could not help me. He said I needed to speak to the security team but nobody was available. I am now, again, waiting for a callback. But I am still waiting for the call back from last weekend so am not hopeful.
I tried to move my money to a different account as I am sick of Tesco. It appears to have been debited but hasn't credited the other account. I hope it's on its way and isn't also caught in a block.
Transfers from my Tesco accounts do take longer then other banks but it will transfer within the 2 hours timespan as per faster payment guidelines.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. Received a voicemail from Customer Relations on Friday re my complaint (2 current accounts; no money taken but got two texts re suspicious activity; also had issues withdrawing money online) and said they would write to me if they did not hear back. Seems they didn't wait long as have already written and credited my account with £150 comp (plus £30 for costs / inconvenience of phone time) without discussing with me.0

Interesting, did you make a complaint by email and how did you word the complaint.
I just had texts on one of my two accounts, one around 05:30 on Sunday morning and another at 04:30 on Monday morning.
Missed the Sunday one but picked up this and issues and rang them around 07:30 on Sunday morning, only had a twenty minute wait but a pointless conversation ensued when I told someone would call later, no one did.
I didn't suffer any loss but it was handled poorly, particularly the Monday morning text as it woke me up and I was getting up for work at 05:45 so left me knackered all day.0 -

No I just phoned up initially on the Sunday (before any texts etc) and after long wait was told my accounts not affected but gave me £30 for the inconvenience and cost of call (technically I think they logged and resolved it as a complaint there and then). However, then got the early morning texts for my two accounts and also could not withdraw some of my money online despite being told I would be able to so phoned again and registered formal complaint by phone but only gave v brief outline as was told customer relations would call me back to discuss and resolve. They indeed did call on Friday and left the vmail as per my post above. Still not got the call back from the fraud team though.0 -
From the BBC news website:
Dark web hackers boast of Tesco Bank thefts
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-37974776I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0 -
meh, I would never read into those posts.... a lot (mostly script kiddies!) like to brag about things that are either not provable, done by somebody else, or just made up lies!
I could for example claim right here that it was me.... but it wasn't!
Yes, somebody may have found evidence of a hack, however it may or may not be related and actually pointing out at a separate flaw. Newspapers are just generating news content by speculating!
There is lots of discussion as to what it could be, but its all guesswork unless Tesco, or somebody of authority makes a statement!0 -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-37974776:Hackers boasted of thefts from Tesco Bank months before the company reported losing £2.5m in an attack.
Cybersecurity company Cyberint said it had discovered posts on a variety of dark web forums whose members had described the lender as being a "cash milking cow" and "easy to cash out".
It is not clear, however, whether there is any link between these claims and the money stolen just over a week ago.
The bank has repeatedly declined to give details of the crime.
It says it is unable to do so while a criminal investigation is being carried out.
Elsewhere, the Sunday Times suggested that the raid had involved the use of contactless payments triggered by smartphones.
[...]
The Sunday Times says the attack was carried out by thieves using mobile phones that used stolen Tesco Bank data to set up contactless payment accounts.
It says fraudulent purchases of thousands of low-priced goods were made at Best Buy electronics stores in the US as well as other American and Brazilian retailers.
The paper does not credit a source for this information.
However, it might tie in to an alert from Europol two months ago that criminals had begun using Android phones to trigger fraudulent tap-and-go payments.
"The possibility of compromising NFC [near field communication] transactions was explored by academia years ago, and it appears that fraudsters have finally made progress in the area," the organisation's Internet Organised Crime Threat Assessment said.
"Several vendors in the dark net offer software that uploads compromised card data on to Android phones in order to make payments at any stores accepting NFC payments."
A spokesman for Tesco Bank said that "none of our systems were breached" and no personal data had been lost, but would not comment further.0 -
eh..... this is the same link as the one posted above!?0 -
I was one of the lucky ones, money wasn't taken out of my accounts but early Sunday ( before they froze the accounts ) I did move my money out to another Bank.Am not sure I will ever move the money back even for the 3% as to not know how it happened doesn't fill you with confidence, and the telephone service was truly abysmal.Of course they were overwhelmed Sat/Sunday but why have no automated message whatsoever with estimated wait time ?
I know you have to put your money somewhere and if it happened to Tesco can it happen to any bank ?? but might just shove the £6000 in Premium Bonds and take a chance there. Some of my Santander money has gone the same way since they reduced their interest rate.
Tesco is good for the fact you can set up DDs on their savings account though.0 -
" £6000 in Premium Bonds and take a chance there." I did, a couple of months ago and won £250 on the first draw they were in.:rotfl:0
