  • Have been absent on here for a few months, opened my tin yesterday and have £250 in there so put it into the bank savings account. And am now refilling my tin, It was one of them tins you have to open with a can opener, I had a few old pound coins in there so it was a good job I opened it when I did. I then glue gunned the bottom and used the lid from a twiglets Christmas tin from last year so that I can reuse the money box.

I got a drought on £1 coins, that I save for this challenge, to be honest, they are being banked but not given back out into circulation unless someone asks for them, appraently some pay stations, and parking meters dont like the new £1 coins so I sometimes get the odd request for old £1...

I have another £90 to fill up my pot, and or finish my challenge, but I'm not sure I will get my hands on them in the way I have done so far...

I may just have to bank and top up the figure with other coins, when I open and bank...

Keep going all, it all soon adds up (even those pesky 5p that are just small enough to lose in your purse and a nightmare pick up when dropped or want to pay with it....

    Ho hum

Oh I know you'll be here on Declaration Day Emily, what I meant was had you put your banked sum onto your siggy to remind you to include it on Declaration Day. Thoughts of you not turning up on the day self don't bear thinking of!!! Thanks so much for your kind words. :D

Thank you also Lynne for your lovely words and hugs. :D So that's another £10er potted for you - brilliant work!! :j

What a right canny money saver you are Treasurequeen!! ;) Not only are you content that your old coins are now safe and your savings so far are banked - you've also done a darned good job of re-sealing your pot and saving even more cash!! :dance:An excellent job!

It sounds as though you're doing well, Westie, which is just great. Well done re the pound £1 coins. BTW, I'm sure we've a machine for £5ers close by that can't accept the new ones, can I get oldies instead???!! :heartsmil Ah well, worth a try. :(

Don't worry about any dropped 5ps as there will always be another SPCer along to pick them up... And swiftly pot them! :D

Brilliant work Chutney, a great amount saved with the rest of your treasure!!

Crikey! I don't think I've ever seen so few folk here during sooo many days, it's mind-blowing!!!! I know there were only 2 on Friday after mine was put on on Wednesday so, as I had a lot to do, I left coming on until today and still so few!!!!
Ah well, I'll press on regardless... For now.
£15 potted after shopping on Friday so I'm really chuffed at that!!! :j

Have a really lovely week, folks. :j Tickle those pots with lots and lots!!! :rotfl:

    Evening Potterssssssssssssssssssss :D

Ahh hugs to you Sue over the loss of your loved one :(

A few potty posts since ive last been on but no sign of Cazzie :( aww come back Cazzie! We miss you!

Oooooooo Holiday time is soooooooo cloooooooose! :j :j :j Seriously dragging now! just sat around watching my countdown clock and waiting for check in to open. I would happily go sit at the airport for the next few days if I could :rotfl:

Sold some of DS's old clothes and was given 2 x £2 coins, and DH changed up his pocket with me for a £5er :D so well fed pots :D

I shall try and pop on before we go but im now in headless chicken and anxiety mode (always the same every holiday, freak out about airports and travelling, health implications etc) so I might just end up running round the house screaming with various half written lists in my hands :rotfl:

Old £5? no, these have left circulation in May this year and are no longer legal tender so you will not get any from the bank, you can still bank them, as they will get sent back to the bank of England.

This is the same process for the £1 in October, they will cease to be legal tender and you will remove these from circulation in October so the machines will have to be changed by then.

    Hope this helps

Sorry to hear your sad news Sue-UU :(

I know exactly how you feel jakes-mum. You look forward to it so much and then spend a frantic week trying to organise actually going! Never mind, keep going, it'll be fantastic and worth every minute of your pre-trip worry. :)

I potted £3 something yesterday. I can't believe how quickly the weeks are flying by.

Enjoy the rest of your week potters.

Another 5 £2s potted over the last week, just forgot to update as I went along so £10 is the total.

Just had another overnight stay in London, but that's it until March now. We went to the Star Wars exhibition - me, sister, nephew and Mum - nephew behaved like a brat for the entire day and I ws running around doing all the interactive stuff like he should have been (and I'm 45) :rotfl:
