Have a happy Tuesday Potters!! I hope you had a really lovely weekend, Monday too! Have a lovely week folks.
To all those sick, in pain or feeling low in any way, take great care of yourselves and get well soon! :grinheart
I was feeling so terribly sorry you with your very limited potting, Money Rollercoaster, but then was the news of the £10er swap with your Mum, and all became brighter ago! Fantastic potting!!! :j
A long walk for you 32b3, but think of the good it did you!Great potting too so not all bad!
I'm so thrilled you're finally coming to the end of that dark tunnel, Cazzie, it's such a relief!!So now you're looking forward to working once again, having more money too. Good luck to you Cazz!
Ah I now see the reason for the drooling over baby/kiddie clothes, it is so difficult to resist such things when you adore kiddies. My first GGC is due in September....more baby clothes for me to look out for!
Sounds as though the postponed trip to Glasgow was the best thing to happen given your circumstances! BTW, you're more than welcome to the donation, it's the least I can do. Don't start me off again with Casualty for goodness sake. I really didn't see that coming!
lilyflower7 wrote: »Thank you, Sue-UU! Au contraire - the pot is on display (a rather pretty sealed can) as the last pot was hidden in what was meant to be a safe place, and wasn't missed until I wanted to pot something.Having it on a shelf in full view means if it goes walkabout it'll be missed immediately, thereby (hopefully) deterring any future light-fingered visitors. And, unfortunately, I'm out of work at the moment so there are no hours to increase, but I truly appreciate your well wishes and I firmly intend to continue saving happily
Ah, I see your reasoning with your pot now, lilyflower, very wise indeed mon amie!
With regards to the plastic £5ers I guess we either love em or hate em, sadly mine is the latter! Still, it's good to hear that they are loved by others.
Sorry to learn that you too have been subjected to by mental illness, as Cazzie rightly says it's a curse - at least I think that was the word she used! :rotfl:
It sounds as though planning your working week is a real problem at the moment, Vicky, but whatever happens don't be pushed by others into doing more hours than is good for you! Well done that your DH has slipped up yet again - he must know how to make a girl happy!! :rotfl:Good savings all round! :T

Drum roll please...
I raised £90
exactly! If I hadn't seen it for myself I wouldn't have believed it
Word of caution, it will probably be fixed some time before the cut off date but the big swirly washing machine like coin sorter doesn't accept the new £1 coin yet!
I have a plastic fiver in my wallet and at least £5 in my account so I will round it up to £100 for my friend. She is my bestie.
You're potting well Florence, and I truly hope you have as much as you want when it's needed for the wedding! PS.... the £90 potted is fantastic savings Florence!!!!! :j:T:j Thanks a lot for popping it on your siggy! Many thanks for the warning about the £1s not being counted in the machines.....yet another thing that wasn't thought well enough about!!!!!!!

we both want kids, dogs etc. our current house is rented plus too small for those dreams really)
Well potted dreamtruce! You go right ahead and live your dreams, and remember, so long as you keep saving well then there's no reason why you shouldn't realise them one day! :j Keep up your great work!!
Ah there you are indigowarrior! Lovely to see you and know your pot is being kept fed so well!!
Poor Ethan for certain Westie, what a shock, and dear Cal - he'll miss all those girls now!
Sadly a lot of us have bodies that refuse to be aligned with our brains, jakes-mum, and isn't it always the way that the one we want to win the argument is the blighter that fails us!Ah well grin and bear it (though I could use a different adjective for the bear it part - still beginning with b I hasten to add!! :rotfl:
It's good to hear your DL's toe is doing well.
Hello Bubbs! Yes, hammer on as much as possible with that potting! :j So sorry to hear you've got diabetes but thankfully these days the web is always there to help us help ourselves a lot more. Take great care of yourself and do your best to shift some weight as that alone help so much!
Keep saving as you are, SPCers and you'll all be mighty happy come November!!!!
Have a wonderful weekend, folks. Keep feeding those pots!!!

Oooooooh, it's all getting real now, jakes-mum! Brilliant saving by you. When is the big departure date? I have quite a number of Euros in the cupboard from 2015 and want to change them into pot money but I'm so dense when it comes to currency, I can never work out when the odds are in my favour! My Mum says I should save them for a future holiday but I need the money right now, being on half pay and wanting to build up that Emergency Fund. But I suppose if I can hold off I might get to use them on a cheeky trip away one day.
Hope that big wad of spending money helped you to feel better! And love to everyone feeling rough one way or another - I'm having a bit of a rough week with my brain but I'm powering through towards the brighter days.
I went to buy a sealed pot today as a pressie for my friend (I know, get me, spreading the potting joy!) but couldn't find any in their usual spots in the old pound shops so the tenner I withdrew didn't become pot change - so back I went to the ATM to withdraw a fiver for the pot! I do want to get her one though, she's had a tough time recently and I managed to convince her that the future can be bright and she can realise her dream of taking her kids to Florida one day, so I want to give her a pot to start the Florida Fund! I'll have to get her to sign up on here and make it official!xxx

Ooo Cazzie, excellent idea to buy your friend a florida pot, after all, thats what mine mine has been for this last 2 years
Florida is in August so really not that far away at all! I'm now much more excited to have dollars in my hands (well not quite, will have them tomorrow but still exciting)
Exchange rate is, buy when the euro is strong (i.e 1.40 euro to the pound) and sell when its weak (i.e 1.15 euro to the pound). I have euros from when we were at 1.43 euros, I think if i sold them back now i'd be looking at the banks buying back at 1.3 euros? so if I changed up £250 into euros at 1.43 i'd get 357.50 euros, if I then changed that back now at 1.3 euros i'd get £275 back. (hopefully that makes sense) you just have to make sure that whatever the banks are offering to buy back at is less than what you got when you bought them to make money off them.
Edit: Just checked post office and they are buying back at 1.36 euros to the £ so if your exchange rate in 2015 was equal or more than that, you'll not lose any money changing them back(of course, check for any fees for buying back as some places like to be cheeky and charge you!)

Thanks, jakes-mum! We went on holiday in September 2015 but bought them in about May that year when the rate was really good, I can't remember exactly what we got them for but I remember it was very good and then I remember feeling very smug because about a week later the rate plummeted and there was definitely a little jig of some sort! I might pop into Thomas Cook and just ask what I would get for them. I have about 300 Euros so it should be a tidy sum and I really can't see me affording a holiday anytime soon, especially as I'm meant to be saving for my flat! The holiday in 2015 was my Mum's 60th birthday present and was a bit of a luxury blow-out for a special occasion on the basis that it would be the last one for a while as then I had to get serious because I turned 30 that same year! Having said that, I'm jolly glad I'm still living at home right now because I couldn't have looked after myself these last six months without my Mummy so it's best I stay in the fold right now
I'm sooooooo thrilled that you're getting to live the dream! It just shows you what can be achieved with something as beautifully simple as a sealed pot! I reckon it's going to be a mammoth record-breaking total this year! And it's so nice to be a part of itxxx
