My plan to make a plan didn't go as planned.
I started looking for the book I wanted to read in the afternoon and instead of actually waiting until the afternoon, I just sat down with a coffee and started reading. It was so lovely and I feel no guilt at all. I must make more time to do this for myself, such a simple thing and it makes me so very happy.0 -

Another week has slipped by.... I've been very busy sorting out life!
Mainly I've been working on getting the things done that need to be done rather than putting them further down the list and doing the things that are more enjoyable instead. My motivation has started to lag a bit so I'm concentrating on all I've done and how good it will feel to get the rest finished to try and keep positive. Of course it's an ongoing list - it will never actually be finished!0 -
This is the universal truth of lists, I've found. There is a degree of pleasure in having done enough stuff from the first list that you can reasonably justify re-writing it all without the crossed out bits, though!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thank you both! There was another family emergency that got me off track a bit, so I need to get my backside in gear to make sure I can pay the bills this month. I wish all the drama would just stop, unfortunately life isn't like that, is it?
I know there are lots of people who absolutely love the summer holidays but I am so thankful that school has started again. I have a very hard time keeping any kind of routine going over the summer and so many areas of our lives slide into utter chaos. My DD is also now a teenager with all the moodiness that comes with it, she is lovely but sometimes I just need a break.
I had an interview but it was for something that needed a bit more experience than I have (my knowledge of their software is quite out-of-date) so it was no surprise that it went to someone else. I'm going to see if there is a free online course to get me back up to speed as I'd love to find work that is mentally stimulating and pays a good wage, (well above minimum wage anyway!) as this job did.
The other option is to try and find two part time jobs but honestly I don't have the energy for all the hassles associated with it. If it comes down to it I will do what is necessary but I am not giving up hope. My DH has said to remember that the benefits will start up again at some point (though who knows when?) but I am very wary of depending on them after what happened last time and would far rather have a decent paying job to support us all. I am still looking in near-ish cities, but once train fare is taken into account, not many pay enough for it to be worthwhile. DH was wondering if possibly my age is making me less attractive to potential employers. I was a bit surprised to think this could be the case - when are you considered "too old"? I'm only in my 50's!!!
This morning is the first time I've had proper peace and quiet in ages so I am going to use it to get back on track with goals, lists, plans, and lots of coffee. There is a lot to do around the house but I am exhausted so could do with a non-physical day.0 -
Hmmm...it seems surprising that age could be a factor - as you say the lack of up to date experience will have a bearing though so a good plan to try to fix that. The interview will have been good experience in itself though.
Absolutely get what you mean about wanting to get back to a routine too - I LOVE how busy my summers are but it must be said by this stage in the year I'm starting to feel that honestly, I just need things to get back to a slightly slower paced routine now!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
