Misty I suggest you look back at how upset you were at not having your equipment when you had to let it go last time.
Selling it would be a very short term gain, ( one months debt?) whilst keeping it will give you the opportunity to do what you enjoy and actually make some money at some stage in the future. (just pretend you sold it to pay last months debt and it's not there now to sell)
How involved are OH and family in the debt busting? Are they a help or a hinderance? If the latter put your foot down and make them contribute more if you can.

Really hoping that things start looking up for you soon ((hugs)) x

  • Thank you both for your replies. :) That's what's keeping me from selling it yet Chrystal, I was so upset before and then to replace it with something inferior was a huge let down!! When I had time to do the sideline I wasn't the only one bringing in an income, but recent events have changed all that so I am now the sole supporter of the family. I have no idea if I'll have the time or energy to keep any of it going once I'm working full time, but I am hoping I will.

Thankfully the family are very aware of the situation so no one is spending unnecessarily (they can't, as there is no money to spend! :p ) We're busy using up the store of food in the cupboards, trying to be inventive. I really wonder what I was thinking buying some of it! In years gone by I would have donated it to a food bank or even tossed it if it was very out of date. Now I am glad to have it though some of the meals haven't been brilliant. I re-read "how I lived on a pound a day" by Kath Kelly and also her very skint cookbook, "Square Meals for Tough Times". I have found both to be very inspiring and it's helped me to look at our situation as a challenge rather than getting depressed or upset, it's definitely helping to keep me motivated and positive.

DD is doing odd jobs to supplement her very small amount of pocket money and has told me to forget about pocket money altogether until things improve. We have no debt but have no savings and are very much living hand to mouth until I can find a full time job. I am going to the council to see if we might qualify for any more benefits with the new situation but after my last dealings and having them stopped altogether because of their mistake, I don't trust what they say and would rather not depend on anything from them if possible.

  • I have pinpointed my weakest link in getting things accomplished and it is very simply organisation and planning. I know what to do, how to do it, and am somewhat motivated to get it done, but at the end of many days it feels as though I have done nothing at all.

I've been using the timer/alarm on my phone which has helped a great deal but I think I need to get back to actually scheduling things, almost like appointments - I tend to get even the jobs I don't like finished if there is a specific time set aside for it. I'm not sure whether to make a daily, weekly, or monthly plans, or maybe a version of all three. It's one of those things that I am great at starting out on but not so great following through and keeping up. I've probably posted something similar to this several times since I've been a member here, you all are probably thinking "oh no not this again....":p

It's obviously important but I'm not sure how to make it actually stick. I'll keep it up for a few weeks and forget about it, even though during those few weeks things run smoothly and I accomplish a huge amount. :(

Otherwise I'm still positive and motivated, selling on ebay is going well and this month's bill are covered. I'm making a start on September's bills, it's nice to have some breathing room but I must make sure I don't drop the ball or I'll soon be in a panic over next month!
  • I had a plan mapped out for today but something unexpected has come up and I won't be back home until later tonight. I have appointments tomorrow so will put the plan in place on Friday. It's funny how frustrated I feel by having my plan upset - had I not made a plan, I wouldn't have cared at all! :p
  • Hope the unexpected is something nice :)

    Have a great day x

unfortunately not but at least I managed the day without spending any money which is pretty good!
  • One of my appointments was cancelled and I'm already back home from the other that I thought would take at least an hour but took about 5 minutes! I was restless last evening so spent a couple hours tidying the house, waking up to a fairly clutter free and clean house is a lovely thing.

I'm going sit down now and work on a plan for each day (M-F) until the end of the month, figure out what to cook for dinner, then spend the afternoon chilling. Either reading a book or watching a movie, something that feels decadent because I wouldn't normally do it during the day. I'm going to make a proper coffee as well and just enjoy relaxing in a clean and tidy house. :T
