I'm feeling upbeat, I think getting my priorities straight and knowing that a full time job is going to be the best way to get a flat has made a big difference. I still want to do the sideline but all the stress of trying to get more commissions and knowing I'm not bringing in enough to pay the bills has been a big drain on my mood and energy. I didn't realise how much stress it was causing until I decided I wasn't going to do it for awhile.0 -
I did a big clean yesterday that involved moving furniture and wiping down the walls and floor behind it - my back is feeling it today! I've become obsessed with getting the house being tidy and clutter free, and not just on the surface - I'm going through closets, shelves, and drawers too. After the last few [STRIKE]years[/STRIKE] decades of being overwhelmed with far too much stuff and shoving things wherever they would fit to get them out of the way, it's probably not a bad thing to be obsessed for a while. It'll take a little longer before it's all done properly!
I managed to find a few more bits to put on Fleabay and am going to go thru my wardrobe again to see what I can sell or donate. It's getting too full again and it's hard to see exactly what's in there. I have a fair amount of clothes that are 1-2 sizes smaller than I am at the moment. As I've made my health one of my top priorities, I am slowly losing weight so most of the clothes should fit by early spring. It would be foolish to get rid of good quality clothes that I already own and like just to have to buy more when what I'm wearing now is too big, wouldn't it?0 -
You're inspiring me to get myself sorted!
I also need to have less clutter, it just seems to build up from nowhere.
I have a bag filled to try and sell next month.
Will list it all then if it doesn't go just charity shop it.
I'm also really going to focus on the weightloss from 2018.
I have clothes around 2 sizes smaller aswell so won't need to go shopping for a while!

Thanks Dolly! Unfortunately my clean house is no more - the kids are home from uni and dropped all their belongings in the dining room and front room. Trying to tidy up after this lot is never ending. They will put away their things once I ask them, but otherwise they don't seem to even see the mess. Once something is put on the diningroom table, it instantly becomes a magnet for all and sundry to be put there. I would hate to see their accommodation at uni, it's probably a bombsite! :eek:0

Oh I am terrible for just dumping everything on my dining table
I need to stop it, does my husbands head in :rotfl:
Clutter free in 2018 for me!

Sounds like normal kids to me :rotfl:0 -
Pick the offending items up and put them on their beds. a) it gets them out of your eyeline and b) it means that if they intend to sleep they have to at least shift the thing to somewhere else and that somewhere else will be within their own space, not yours. I'm sad to say I've nearly given up and ready to go on strike. I did the bed thing and it made me feel much better but now they are dropping stuff on the dining room floor as well. I don't have energy to put it upstairs on their beds, as it would mean many, many trips up and down the stairs. At this rate we will be eating Xmas dinner on our laps. I don't want our Xmas to be filled with arguments but I am so disappointed that no one seems to take anything I say seriously. I did not raise them to be inconsiderate of others and tbh it's tarnishing some of the happiness I had about the whole family being home. The excuse from the uni students is "we have to fend for ourselves at uni so this should be a holiday for us". Even DH doesn't see the problem. I'm trying to not let it ruin the holidays but I am seriously p£ssed off. Even before my cleaning frenzy I tried to keep things tidy - most of the clutter was behind closed doors where I couldn't see it. I just read that back and I sound like a right whinger.
I went out to get some milk and bread this morning and was aghast at the amount of people rushing around, grabbing things off shelves, trying to barge into queues, and being generally horrible to each other. I was glad to get home and am thankful that I will have no need to go out again until Tuesday at the earliest!
I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas! xx :rudolf: :xmassmile:santa2: :snow_grin0 -
Oh Hun, whinge away. It's good to have a rant. If it was me, I'd call a family meeting and explain to them that you intend to use the dining room table for Christmas dinner and that if its not cleared, their stuff will be in bin liners for them to sort out.
Have a very merry Christmas Hun xxx0 -
Thanks Purplemumof2. I ended up putting it in bin bags and saying if they didn't take care of it, I was putting it all in the bin outside. That got them moving. I tried to explain why I wanted it kept clear and got answers back like "chill mum..." :mad:0
