  • Thanks EssexH, I have been doing really well staying off social media, etc. I don't watch telly unless it's been recorded so we skip through the adverts, but the 15 min thing is something I need to remember.

I'm now planning how I can get the other things done, it's important I get the big things out of the way while I still have some extra time. Selling is an ongoing but very important one too, as this is where most of my income is now coming from.

Going to start using the 15 mins thing! sometimes I act like unless I have half a day free I can't possibly do anything

  • The 15 mins thing makes so much sense and it's not the first time it's been suggested to me! This time I will take heed. :o

I also am loving the idea of purplemumo2's monthly goal list, had I broken my yearly one down I may have completed more than I have. Over the next couple of days I will compile my August list of goals and see how far I can get.

The 15 minute thing really works - the key though is to make sure you stop what you're doing at the end of the 15 minutes and take a break - otherwise it defeats the object. This may be why I like it so much.

Another one I love is from Flylady originally I think - put nice loud music on and dash round the house with a bin bag flinging any rubbish you find into it - the aim is to get the bag filled before the song ends.

I also like a "tidying trail" - you start in say the front room - find an item that should be elsewhere and deliver it there - then in that room you find an item that belongs somewhere else, and so on. So it might go Front room: fleece taken off and left on sofa > Bedroom: mug from morning cuppa > Kitchen: bills that got opened in there when the post was picked up > spare room: washing from the airer > bedroom....great way of getting things back to where they belong and the step count mounts up too! :T

Love these ideas! They all sound like the games my mum would get us to play to tidy up after watching mary poppins!

  • I'll try the tidy trail too - though I have a feeling once I start there won't be an end! :p

Appointments booked for most of the day today so won't get a huge amount done otherwise but there are plenty of things I can do in 15 min chunks.

Still no luck with a job, and I'm starting to feel a bit worried. The jobs that are available seem to be doing things like stacking shelves at Fresco, but they are not full time either. I really need something where I am not on my feet all day or lifting things. I'm also looking out for two p/t jobs but so far the ones I have found that might be suitable have conflicting hours. I still have things I can sell but they are mainly smaller items now, as in under £15. It all adds up but I don't know if I have enough left to pay the bills for August. There is a chance I will need to think about selling the sideline equip, which makes me feel a bit ill, especially after the last time. I will do what needs to be done and I don't mean to sound like a whinger but I think it's time that things started getting a bit better around here!! ;)
  • There'll be something around the corner Misty, it must be your turn for some good luck! :) xx

I don't know whereabouts you are but have you thought about PA work, not in an office but with disabled people? often it is just helping people access the community or do paperwork etc. I did it for years and it is better pay and quite a nice job. A lot of places have a database of people looking for work and looking for people and often the nearest city will cover all villages etc near by. You would be surprised how many people need pa's

  • Thanks Pmumo2 and JVR.

I hadn't thought of PA work, that would suit me down to the ground. Can you tell me where I would find a database like that?
