Hi Misty, sorry that you are going through a difficult time. keep plodding on, you are doing great. Don't know what to suggest re lack of motivation, it is a problem for me too sometimes, I do set time limits on things and then reward myself with a cuppa, visit to the boards here etc when I have met my target, but have to make sure that I kick myself to get up and get on with the next thing.
Keep plodding.

Thanks so much Maddie, I hope you are well! xx
I have managed to get nearly everything done I had planned for today, so am feeling fairly positive about it. I think planning is going to be key for me, if I have nothing in particular scheduled for the day (even though I have a list of things that need to be done at some point in the future) then nothing gets done at all. It will be even more important when I find full time work to make sure things at home don't fall apart completely.
It's really self-discipline that I lack, maybe more so than motivation. If I just made myself get up and do the work, it would get done!
I lack self discipline in all areas - my diet, exercise, housework, everything really. I have improved my diet and am exercising regularly but still not losing weight so need to really look carefully at what we're eating. I have been happy enough to muddle along but really I'd like my life to be a bit more than muddling. I have completed some of my yearly goals so maybe it's time I sat down and looked at exactly what has been done this year and go back to making daily, weekly, and monthly plans again to get the rest of the things finished.0 -
I spend most of my days fuzzyheaded and unmotivated but I do have a 2 year old who has never slept so I blame home. I also bribe myself. "I'll just finish ..... then sit down for lunch" or "I'll just load the dishwasher while the kettles boiling kinda things"DEC GC £463.67/£450

Hi Misty,
Sounds like you've had a productive day today
Totally relate to the lack of self discipline, well done on your motivation.
I too need to revisit my yearly goals.....although I first need to find them :rotfl: xx0 -
Thanks purplemum02!
I am not quite as fuzzy headed today and am determined to get at least one of the two overdue important things done today. It's all paperwork so nothing too strenuous.
I have edited my post as I realised I had put a bit too much personal info in it.
I am going to see if I can finish the first of my jobs within the next two hours!0 -
Oh god that place is something else sometimes! I have a few things listed too but not had any cheeky requests like that........yet!

Thanks Dolly, I realised I let a bit too much personal info slip so have deleted most of my original post. Hard to believe though isn't it!
Job one completed!0 -

While I am doing better especially on #s 12, 16, and 22, I haven't actually achieved any of my 2017 goals below. I am going to need to try a different approach and break them down into smaller steps and actively plan when and how I am going to accomplish each one:
2017 goals
1. Bring in extra £600 a month minimum, increasing income month on month
2. Actively explore new ways to achieve above
3. Finish the big de-clutter properly - anything sold, transfer money over to savings after bills are paid so it doesn't get spent
4. Keep a spending diary in handbag, update after every purchase, review at end of each month
5. Clean entire house thoroughly and set up a regular cleaning schedule, possibly join flylady
6. Make and stick to Meal Plans / shopping lists / food budget
7. Schedule No Spend days/weeks
8. Transfer odd change to savings account every day
9. Wombling
10. Keep Debt-Free diary updated
11. Budget – make and stick to
12. Eat proper breakfast/lunch mainly fruit and veg, eat smaller portions for dinner, less carbs/sugar, puddings on special occasions only
13. Cook most/all meals from scratch
14. Meatless meals twice a week, increasing as we find recipes we love
15. Bake once a week
16. Get off laptop and live in the real world, severely limit online time wasting
17. Lose 10lbs a month until reaching ideal weight, then maintain it
18. Take at least 3 long walks a week
19. Find a local yoga class and give it a try
20. Figure out how to get a good nights sleep during the change
21. Build up immune system/personal health
22. Think before buying, is it really wanted/needed/useful/going to ruin my diet?
23. Read all books I already own before buying/borrowing more
24. Ziffit all unwanted books/games/DVDs
25. Learn a new craft/skill i.e. knitting, quilting, or needlework
26. Be more present in life, make a point of really listening when people talk
27. Save for a week away with the family in a secluded holiday cottage in the country
28. Save up and keep £500 in emergency fund, replenish if spent
29. Keep on top of filofax planner and spend 10 minutes going over my calender/goals/lists every morning or possibly even the night before.
30. Have a weekly de-clutter day or half day0 -
For the lack of motivation thing - remember the 15 minute rule. "You can do anything for 15 minutes" - so maybe pick a single job that needs doing, set a timer for 15 minutes and then just crack on with it. When the timer finishes, set it again but sit down with one of those books that you're going to read and read for 15 minutes. I always find it's amazing what you can accomplish in 15 minutes.
Another favourite trick of mine is if I'm watching TV on a channel with adverts - getting up when the adverts start and doing something small like loading the dishwasher or oddments of washing up in the time the ads are on. 3 ad breaks in a program does seem to get a reasonable amount done! :T
