So, I bought a few Christmas presents out of my weekly spend money at the weekend, leaving me with..... £16.50 for the week.

We have no travel costs and my food is all bought and planned so just got to get on with life!!

My fabric arrived today for my Christmas presents, just need some interfacing and I am ready to make my little make up bags for my main girls.

Had some interesting news from my flatmate (context: I buy all their dinners and cook for them, they give me between £15 - £20 a week - which is more than what I spend) - he has paid his rent, but can't afford to pay me the food until next week.

All the bills go out at the beginning of the month and depending on how much the other flatmate puts in I will need to find another £40! That could be interesting!

I have £200 in the emergency fund, but I am feeling confident that I wont need to use it.

Also, big news today: I called a mortgage broker! We are going to talk to them tomorrow about whether we would be able to get a mortgage and if so how much for! It's a lot sooner than we were planning on, but the flatmates are driving us insane, so I don't really think that there is much harm in speaking to a broker to see what our chances are.

I am so keen to get out of the flat and into our own house, it is unreal.

Work is going okish, not sure about my October bonus - I am still constantly ignored and my comments disregarded (mostly to be repeated by someone else who then gets listened to, or for the issue to come up again later down the line when nothing has been done!).

I never worked somewhere that made me feel so worthless - despite the fact that I am responsible for a huge amount of money (business worth £120m) and I deliver great results, my direct line manager doesn't seem to think that what I have to say is of any value. Often I will be speaking to him and he will just get up and walk away.

I am fairly confident he doesn't have a very good grasp of the intricacies of the role that my team play, and often causes a lot more damage than good.

But, I have inquired today about a new role that is in the same company that might mean more freedom and working from home. Either way, we are planning on having a baby in the next year so I will get the hell out of here one way or another!

Wish me luck getting through the week!

    X

Wow Laura you don't sound well treated at work at all. Really sorry. Are you hanging in there because you want to move and don't want to have a short employment period on your application? If not I'd be tempted to say get out of there. Life's too short isn't it.

Well Bob, it's as if the universe has listened.

I have had some GREAT news today - my department is changing reporting and becoming part of another department.

I have great relationships in the department we are moving to, and I am really excited that this move will mean a change to my direct line management. Fingers crossed!!!

I also spoke with a mortgage broker today, and he is going to see if we can get a mortgage and will let me know tomorrow morning!!!!

I am a little annoyed with the OH because I am so focused on paying everything off and I thought that he only had a little bit on his credit card but it turns out that he has £1000 on it. So I am annoyed that he hasn't told me about that.

Generally speaking he is very good, but I don't think that he has the burning desire to be debt-free that I do. But we are going to sit down together one evening this week and go through his budget and spending and work it all out - he will be debt free, even if I have to drag him there!!!

Luckily he doesn't get angry or defensive - just a bit clueless sometimes :/

I am really hoping that my plan comes together and that we are able to buy our own house soon and be debt free (mortgage aside). I wont be having a baby until we are, and that is what is my main motivator at the moment.

Dinner tonight, I think we are going to have chicken, leek and bacon pie with mash - tasty!

Really wish I wasn't feeling so grotty - it's like I am constantly ill at the moment, please hurry up and be healthy Laura's body!!

anyway, I close my eyes and I am here:

That's ace news, Laura! Really pleased for you - it's great when you can see things start falling into place. Now just give your OH a gentle kick up the bum and you'll be set

  • Thanks guys!

Kick up the bum given - we sat down today and went through his spending and budgets and he is spending £100 more per month than he is getting.

So by we are changing his budget around a bit so that he has £200 spending money per month and that gives him an £80 buffer. So his total debts are £3665 - Loan is £1930, Credit card is £1000 and £700 to a friend. Now, hopefully we can get it all sorted, I am not 100% confident that we will get approved for a mortgage tomorrow but I am sure that we are on the right track now and reducing he debts rather than adding to them.

Got him set up with a spending tracker and everything!!

Everything is going in the right direction people - and my clearscore credit rating has jumped right up! 495! I am so happy!!
