Also I opened a forum for some advice and not get all this nasty comments
The Carribean is cheaper in hurricane season, it's a risk you take.
It was an extreme situation & unfortunate you suffered 3 days disruption to your holiday.
I don't think you will get much in the way of compensation.
I doubt much better could have been done in such circumstances.
They should have brought crates of water in for everyone to help themselves to.
I'm guessing you knew it was expected - personally in your situation I would have squirrelled away some bottled water & long life snacks.0

Yes and should come with a 5* customer service not a 1* so get your facts right!!!
The mind boggles, you book a holiday in hurricane season, the island gets hit by the worst storm since 2007, people staying in the path of the storm are moved to the safest places they can in a short space of time and the hotel is over run with "outsiders" and you expect it still to run as if it is a normal situation:eek:
While it may not have been something that anyone would want, moaning like a child that has been refused an ice cream IMO is not the way any grown up person should be acting. OK it was tough for a few days but at least you lived and that is more than some in hurricane Matthews' path did.
Just be happy and in the future relate the story to your children/grand children0

I really can't understand why people just don't carry a bottle of water with them. I never go anywhere without one, not even in our climate, never mind the Caribbean. Sometimes you've just got take some personal responsibility and stop relying on other people to provide for you.0

Exactly, when you were told you were being evacuated why did you not take bottles of water with you? We always have bottled water in the room for taking pills or even cleaning teeth. I also take various snack items from the UK such as biscuits and crisps. Often I end up jettisoning them at the end of the holiday but I prefer to be prepared. Even if I travel 5* all inclusive (which I often do).
It sounds horrendous having to queue for hours on end but at the end of the day you were safe. Be thankful.0

Damian72 FGS stop moaning about not getting a drink of water in your 5* hotel.
Read this and get some perspective.

Maybe TC had problems getting water in an emergency situation.0

This is the sort of thread that actually makes me ashamed of being British and wonder about the human race.
People were dying in this hurricane - yes it must have been a real inconvenience for you but for !!!!!! put the situation into perspective.
Complain about the behaviour of the TC staff if you must but seriously get a grip .0

It sounds like you actually received fairly good treatment considering the circumstances.
In Cuba in the event of a hurricane the Government used to take full control of the evacuation. The tour operators had no say or control or the situation on what happened to guests.
The Government would order an evacuation and coaches or army trucks would pick all the tourists up from their hotels and guests moved to public shelters. Not to another 5* hotel where 'only' three staff were on duty to check you in.
Perhaps a thank you to Thomas Cook for taking you and your family to a place of safety might be in order.
I also hope that you thanked the hotel staff for staying on rather than return to prepare their own homes for the storm and to check on the safety of their own families.0

Yes and I believe some people need to travel more to archive more foreign knowledge.
 You are correct.
 You really, really do!
Did you really not realize you had chosen to travel in hurricane season?
Did it really not occur to you to leave one person in the queue whilst others got food and water ?
Do you not realize hurricanes don't care if a building is a five star hotel or a four star?
You are sounding like a pouting teenager who has never travelled further than Blackpool before this holiday.
How fortunate you were to only lose three days of your holiday still I don't suppose that'll stop your foot stamping.
"But I expected five star service even during a national emergency when lives were at risk" Get a grip you are sounding ridiculous.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
 MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0

I think Damian should print this post out and read before he travels again0
