I noted that the original post had not previously been quoted in any response, and so I quoted so as to reduce confusion later.
HTH.
Yes I know "why" you did it.
But why bother?
If the poster wants to pull his thread why shouldn't he be able to?
It doesn't seem very kind.0 -
I have had one hurricane experience in Washington DC. No tour company involved.
Although there was no change of hotel required for me it was evident that if the city took a direct hit the supply chain would be hammered too.
Simple precaution of nipping out for bottled water, a couple of days of food (bread, butter, plastic knife, chocolate - the essentials) and a couple of toilet rolls.
Beyond that, cross everything and hope for the best.
NYC took the worst of it but our hotel did have rooms flooded on the top floor and ran out of food for a few hours.
We were very much on our own, but coped.
In the case of the OP, hundreds died in the hurricane that made him queue at reception.0 -
My thoughts and OP tell me if I am wrong.
You saw 5 star and all inclusive in the brochure. You had no real idea of where you were going, what weather to expect etc.
You expected Thomas Cook to do everything for you, your hardest job was to move between the pool, bar and restaurant.
When things went pear shaped you had no idea what to do to help yourself. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
Mine was a serious question.
Could you have bought water nearby?
Or were you really waterless?
Of course they couldn't. They're British. They all have to stand together in the queue
I've never been in a Cuban hotel reception where you couldn't buy water or cold drink nearby. I think perhaps the OP thinks that someone should have been coming around offering it while they were queuing, like the staff had nothing better to do, and the '5 star luxury' he'd paid for included him not having to think or do anything for himself. :rotfl:0 -
I am fed up of arguing with you people as it looks like you all work for Thomas cook!!!!!!! Have a nice sunday and make sure in the future you book a holiday with the brilliant and only THOMAS COOK. Good luck!!!!!!
So let's be a bit calm and collected.
What has happened has happened, what do you expect Thomas cook to do now to compensate you for what you feel went wrong?
That would be a good starting point, otherwise it's just a complaint and a moan.0 -
Yes, I would agree that it would have been nice if TC had people bringing free bottles of water to those in the queue, especially when the queue was so long.
Probably worth about £10-25pp.
What's your next idea as to what TC should have done?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Quote from the hotel -the other side( read elsewhere the staff were working 16 hour days.
"you have mentioned a situation about a dehydrated person who received medical care, it did not happen in Meli! Jardines del Rey. Even without a complete check in, we received the visitors giving them the possibility to eat and drink without consider if their room had been assigned or no. At the same time we prepared and distributed food for the people who was waiting in line.
Anyway it is always sad to hear we did not meet the customers expectations, however we consider it appropriate to mention the exceptional nature of the circumstances that brought you here, the hurricane Mathew. We all lived an episode that we will remember for two reasons, firstly the authorities purpose about guarantee the safety of all our visitors and secondly the unconditional support of our staff who worked tirelessly to make it possible, by the way, the lack of servers you have mentioned was because we need to keep only the essential personnel for working in emergence situations.
We know the inconvenience caused to our customers and we apologize for that reason, but the most important thing is how this situation was handled, nobody died here in Cuba by this hurricane.
If you change your mind and decide come back, for us it will be a pleasure. Please keep in mind that we remaind at your services."0 -
Water? Yes given to us at 10pm after being in the queue for 5 hours. Unacceptable!!!!!! And to make it clear Thomas Cook are bombarded with claims due to the lack of communication and organisation so go and have a nice Sunday walk as fed up of Nasty people.0
