Dissapointed with Thomas Cook

  • With more organisation and not having 3 receptionists dealing with 900 people and Thomas Cook rep sat at the lobby bar drinking while people were fainting, arguing and queuing for 8 hours and nobody giving us water etc.... and after 8 hours of getting a room to find that there were no bedding, water or phone so queuing for another 2 hours. Believe me it was carnage and Thomas Cook rep ( Ivor ) was useless. Would you say this is acceptable?????? NO ITS NOT!!!!!!
  • Would you know how to organise for a hurricane? I honestly don't think you understand.

It's if course annoying but though difficult it's necessary to review this objectively.

Detail what more Thomas cook could have done, if there are specific issues with resourcing it staff then point them out, and maybe request a credit for the portion of your holiday that was lost.

I don't want to be too critical, as I invoked vitriol when following a similar path of comments on a a similar thread a couple of weeks ago, that OP seemed to get treated with kid gloves whereas you have received a different response, though your post has been more strident.

Probably best to not use multiple exclamation marks though, for explanation just look to terry pratchett for the reasons why.
  • Thomas Cook are trained and paid to sort out the issues of you may experience and I do not understand as this is not my job. And by the way the hurricane did effect our area in any way.
  • There was a review on TA that mentioned how embarrassed they were by the mainly Brit tourists complaining loudly about having no towels or clean bedding, and having long waits. As they said, was that really important given that they had been evacuated for their own safety?

I have to agree with that reviewer. These things aren't important. A hotel that is suddenly inundated with hundreds of guests they're weren't expecting or fully prepared for is always going to mean waiting for things.

It's not a tour operators fault if the hotel only have 3 staff on reception. Their reps can't work behind reception. The hotel staff work not knowing how their families are, and whether they'll have a home to go to. You were given a place of safety, in a hotel with the same Thomas Cook rating as the one you were evacuated from, and you were fed and watered. It is an officially rated 5 star hotel, the same as the Playa Pilar. How did you lose 3 days of your holiday. You still had those days, just in a different hotel. Chasing compensation because you have to wait for a few things really is a first world problem. I'm surprised they're giving anything.

Could you not get water from the bar? When I lost a portion of my holiday once, it didn't matter too much because I had a longish stay-I decided to remain positive as I couldn't change anything.Footstamping would have made me feel worse.

As other have said, you have to detail what you thought TC should have done under the circumstances, and whether such measures were feasible in this situation. If you can come up with sensible remedies that could have been made and were not, then you can complain.

eta. No I don't work for TC. Most definitely not.

  • No Damian we don't work for Thomas Cook we just use our common sense and research before we holiday and accept our findings.

Did you know there was a hurricane risk? Did you research this?
