Well it’s in at the Peugeot main dealer so it’s certainly in the right place. I’ve said to MrEH that he needs to be asking them why it’s got that level of corrosion in the first place. So much for getting away from work promptly this evening - when I took the post just before 5 I realised the next road along was blocked off with a police car - it’s the way I have to go to get out onto the high road again so I asked him whether he thought it would be closed for long, only to be told there was a fire in the “next road down” so he wasn’t sure how long… 👀 Sure enough, far end of the “next road down” was full of fire engines and police cars…right where my car was parked… 🤦🏻♀️ No injuries thank goodness - everyone got out OK, but my car was squarely in the middle of the cordoned off area and nobody was sure how long it might be, except that if the initial investigation decided that the fire was suspicious it could be cordoned off all night… 😱 I killed a bit of time in the office, then popped back - still no news so I said I’d head off for a walk. Wandered round a big loop and was going to go bit further but I’d got back to the opposite side of the cordon and my friendly Policeman who I’d been talking to was there so I asked if they knew anything more and he said he thought I might be able to get out… sure enough he had a quick chat with the firemen who agreed that with a bit of shifting of hoses they could indeed move the appliance forward a couple of feet creating just enough space for me to slide out…phew! The car looks to have a few scratches on the bonnet - it was obviously too dark to have a proper look but hopefully not too bad. Ultimately it can’t be helped, frustrating as it is - if it had been my house on fire I certainly wouldn’t have wanted them to deal with it less efficiently because they were trying not to scratch cars! I was just glad to finally get away, even if an hour late. Any other day I’d have said not to worry, left the car there and travelled home on the tube getting MrEH to pick me up from the tube station - but of course I’m not even going to London tomorrow, and I needed the car to get to the funeral, plus the other car isn’t here so he couldn’t pick me up anyway! Typical that it happened today of all days! I felt dreadful feeling I was making a fuss about needing to get the car (even though I wasn’t really) when those poor people had just had their home destroyed. In other news - the parcel arrived! It was blatantly obvious that Royal Mail Help on Twitter had got hold of the sorting office and given them a rocket as it arrived a couple of hours after I sent the DM, and a full hour later than our normal parcel delivery slot! I’m still going to be wanting to know how come they had an instruction to not deliver post to our address today, though!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

One time (recently) the bank wrote to me saying they had received a notification of change of address for me and had gone ahead and changed it. I have lived here nearly 14 years and definitely not changed my address so I have no idea how that happened. I called about it and they couldn't explain. Fobbed me off with it being a system glitch and changed it back for me. It was only the flat number that was removed, the rest of the address was the same but I'd love to know how many other people had the "system glitch" changing their address.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Just popping in to say Hi and how lovely you are to be so cool about your car being scratched xxx4

GAP that would really have annoyed me! I suspect RM will just brush this under the carpet now - the response late yesterday was effectively “oh well you have your parcel so it’s all fine” - I’ve replied back saying I still require the answer to the question about who gave the instruction to not deliver our post but undoubtedly they will push it on to needing to get into the formal complaint system which of course they made INCREDIBLY tricky to try to out folk off going through it. Fingers crossed it at least won’t happen again now though as they’ve had a warning shot across the bows.@Alchemilla Thanks for popping by! I’ll be a bit upset if the car is significantly damaged - not least because being a metallic finish I’ll likely have to get it sorted at some stage to avoid more damage but it’s one of those things - no point in getting cross about it as it really couldn’t have been helped. 🤷🏻♀️ Hopefully it will just be superficial scratches which will mostly buff out. 🤞🏼At home at the moment as with my Auntie’s cremation this afternoon lovely Mr Boss decided it was best if I didn’t go in at all in case of getting problems heading home (and the situation last night underlines quite how sensible that was of him, too, now I think of it!). Been for a walk with MrEH first thing and am shortly going to head out to the chemist to pick up my prescription before my pre pay card runs out in a few days. Then it will be home for an early lunch get changed and head out.The service is only going to be relatively short, then I’ll pop back to Mum and Dad’s for a little while. Lat Flows taken daily so far this week in preparation for seeing them and all negative, thank goodness.
I decided to use my £30 “free” Am@z0n credit on a better quality Bluetooth speaker - I have a cheap one which I use a LOT but it doesn’t hold charge well, the quality isn’t great, and it also has a very limited range - hoping the new one will be a great improvement, and it seemed a great idea to use “free money” on something that I would thoroughly appreciate and enjoy using like that.Banks checked - the new PB purchase now shows on the NS&I account. Also opened the new N/w1de reg saver last night so will need to get that funded once the details are all confirmed. I’ll probably actually use some joint account surplus to fund this month’s payment to that as well, now I think of it. My Coventry account matures today so if I get the chance this evening I may log in and see if it’s converted yet - if so I can open the new one and get that funded too, then transfer out the funds from the matured one.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hope the funeral goes as well as possible.
Also hope that the scratches are superficial. Like you said, if that had been my house I wouldn't have cared about other people's cars (or my own to be fair) but it's still an inconvenience and expense for you. I'm glad that they re jigged things so that you could get your car out and go home.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2004 -

Hope the funeral goes ok. I went to my cousin’s just before Christmas. Ouch to the car but as you say it was emergency circumstances so couldn’t be helped.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4
