Hope the funeral is ok, and sorry to hear about the fire, and situation with the car.

Thanks all - it did go very well, just a small gathering but all people who knew D well and loved her which was perfect. A lovely splash of different colours in the clothing worn too - we didn't even stipulate that which reflects how well the attendees knew what she would have wanted. The chaps present mostly wore dark-ish suits but with colourful ties - she would distinctly have approved! Ladies were in a positive rainbow of colours from Mums and my bright scarves to D's good friend B who wore a coat that - as Mum rightly said - D would have been making threats about stealing, she would have liked it so much! I really appreciate so many of you taking the time to leave messages saying you were thinking of us yesterday too - thank you. x
EG2 good to see you back posting - we all know how many times I've gone AWOL and returned some time later so I'm familiar with the concept of being a virtual newbie on again on here myself!
It was lovely to get that side of the family together too - Mum's cousin, his wife and my three fellow Great Neices, along with one's husband all came back to Mum & Dad's afterwards - the first time we have all been in one place for literally years - since my Great Uncle's funeral over 20 years ago I think.
So - time to get focused on things again I think. I have that regular saver that needs sorting, and some internal bank transfers that need amending to the "pots" to reflect the increased amounts we've agreed on. Also need to remind MrEH that he has to sort his access to the C0v3ntry out as he was having problems getting in.
I've just closed a no longer used account - that now lives over at Santander instead and realistically N/Wide are neve going to increase the interest rates on the original e-savings accounts now so it may as well go. I'm debating about whether to retain the other unused one or not. There's probably no real benefit though.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

It sounds as if the funeral was just what your aunt would have wanted. Funerals are always sad but often it’s lovely to get together as a family iykwim….I know my extended family got to a stage where we felt as if we only met at funerals and promised each other we’d remedy it…..then lockdown happened.
The fire sounded scary….I’m pleased you got away with only a few scratches.January spends - £587.582 -
I'm glad for you that the funeral went well. My Dad had really enjoyed getting together with family at one of his brothers' funeral and insisted we have a big party for his 80th - because even though that's how life goes, he didnt want the only time for us to get together to be funerals. I am not sure we realised he was saying goodbye but I suppose he was and I am glad he did before all the lockdowns began.

Morning all - Paws - I'm glad for you that you got to have that time with your Dad and yes to thank goodness it was before all the lockdowns happened too! Thanks for popping by too SH, Milann & SG2!
Lovely weekend away in Edinburgh celebrating a good pal's 50th birthday - we drove up part way on Thursday night (got the same Travelodge room we got on Christmas night which was handily the closest to the entrance - we're usually at the end of a corridor!) then rest of the way on Friday. Met pals in one of our favourite pubs on Friday afternoon then went for dinner in another pub. Visited the Castle on Saturday, and had the most fantastic meal out in the evening, met for breakfast and then just wandered round before it was time for us to head home on Sunday morning. We had a brief stop at the Angel of the North on the way back which is one of my favourite places and all in all just had a lovely weekend.
Had a booked day off yesterday so took myself off to the gym in the morning and am now a fully paid up member for the next year. I walked in and the lass on the desk recognised me and was all ready to do my hussle pass number input - she was completely taken aback when I said I wanted to join, just a total double take moment! She also haggled me a free access fob (usually a £20 charge) which was a nice bonus. I plan to keep a tally of how often I've been so I can see a "Cost per use" which should fall as the year passes - so far it's a hefty cost for yesterday's session though! Also got the weekly shop done after MrEH finished work last night too - haven't quite got a proper meal plan as yet but at least we definitely do have stuff to eat this week now! (Plus we took advantage of Mozza's rather excellent £2.50/kg pork shoulder offer on the way home on Sunday so I roasted a truly enormous lump of pork last night which will now need portioning and freezing!)
Survey wise we're at:
Prolific £10.47 paid/£0.21 pending
OnePoll 2435 points - hoping to get that to cashout in the next few days.
In other news - one of the C0v3ntry Reg Savers matured - I've left £500 in it to pay across to the new one (which I need to get sorted) and the balance has been transferred out and across to PB's which means we now have a nice little lump in there. MrEH is waiting for some details through the post to get access to his Coventry account as currently it's been locked due to a password issue. Sigh. I've got some financial odds and ends - new transfers etc - which will need doing at some stage before the end of the month so that may well be a job for the weekend.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

The weekend in Edinburgh sounded fantastic. I love it there. I’ve passed the Angel of the North on the motorway but never been close.
