The Simple Bare Necessities feat. Gratitude & Recipes

Well, we went for a pootle up the high street, and it was in wonderful sunshine - for which I am most grateful
We have a 'Permanent' poppy pendant now, and I put this on the pushchair today. We spotted the poppy collection tins at the end of the till in m&$, so we popped our £2 coin in. A sustainable poppy appeals to the 'environmentally concious' in me, but it's not an excuse to dodge making a donation.
I needed some batteries, and got the 'copper coloured top' ones from h0me bargins. They were £3.99 for 12. Then in (seemingly) every other shop we went into - there were the same brand batteries 'on offer'. Had I paid too much? As it turns out, no I hadn't. h3r0n were selling the same packet for £4.99 or 2 for £8 - which is ok if you need 24 AAA batteries and have £8 in your budget. W1lks were selling them for £3.75... oh no, had I lost out? No, because the packets in W1lks had 8 batteries in, not 12.
I also got some Y0ungz omega 3fish fingers (not cod) in h3r0n and paid 99p. The nearest equivalent in mrT were mrT own brand omega 3 fish fingers which are 21p dearer for the same number of fish fingers (10).
I'm hopeful that it is the little 'everyday saves' that add up to make our life affordable and sustainable.
Enjoyment 'for free' was gained when we were back home. BG and I shared a moment in the kitchen where we were munching apple together. BG eating apple that has not been pureed (albeit left 'chunky') is a new development, and it was so nice to just have a few moments together, doing such a simple thing.

Mmmmmm :think::think: - OK, You win! I feel better now :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Tea has been scoffed. it was a little on the 'light' side 'mains' wise, there was even less of the morroccan stew than I thought there wasBut we had cous cous, more carrots steamed and the last of the frozen runner beans. I'd not been able to top up with more frozen veg as they were doing maintenance or replacing a freezer or something in h3r0n and you couldn't get anywhere near the frozen veg aisle
Still we had 'free apples' crumble for dessert with some organic cream that had been YS'd in m&$. There were several pots. How I wish I could have scooped them all up for 60p ea. which is what I would have done had I sufficient eggs and oranges & lemons at home, and I would have made organic St. Clements ice-cream for 'C' mas........ Ah well, I shall console myself with the fact that it is unlikely to have lasted until then anyway.....
The crumble was nice - especially with the cream for a 'treat'
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
help and support from MSE'rs
utoob 'how to' craft videos
time for simple pleasures
Ta for popping in. Appreciated. Very greatly.

I think everyones level of being frugal is different, if what you do is working for you stick at it! Don't let anyone make you feel bad that you're choice are different to theirs.
I won't ever be as frugal as some on here, I have things I want to do that don't fit with being frugal enough to stop washing my bedding everyday, nor down branding my coffeeetc.
After all what suits one won't suit another. I think you do amazing and I love lurking behind the scenes and reading alongx

Good Morning :hello:
Ugh, awoke from another bad dream. Ah well. Could have done with more sleep really, not so worried about the dream, as it's obviously just a reflection of something that I was thinking about yesterday, so explainable.
We shall make sure that we get out and about - for fresh air and exercise. We'll need basic supplies, which DH will be tasked with getting, but i'll pick up the TV mag. I've some bits of banking to attend to, as well.
Tea is soup - see, I can do frugal:D [Greying very much pulling own leg there
] I'm concious that it will be something of a worthy eat though, as I'm going to make Leek and Potato soup. The leeks from fArmf00ds were were tough and stringy, but I have one and a half bags left (about 1kg )....... I will do a 'rustic' version this time and not blend it (well, might blitz slightly) and add the splodge of organic cream that is left over. Perhaps I ought to try the 'unopened' bag of leeks - then if they too are tough & stringy, well then I compost the 2 half bags iyswim. Rather than soldiering on with the bag that I know has tough leeks in it, and getting down-hearted that there is a full bag still to go...... Mmmm, I think that is a plan. Much as I hate wasting food, life is not about existing in sack cloth and on ashes............
Right, there is snap to prep and I am only 2 slurps into my coffee
Best shift-a-tail-feather
Ta for popping in. Very much appreciated. Always.
