I'm surprised nobody has wondered if the MIL simply wants her son and DIL to move out and is prepared to go to any lengths to be rid of them?

    :rotfl::rotfl:

    What are you suggesting?

Peeing your pants would certainly be a novel way of ridding yourself of relatives. But it hasn't worked so far, maybe she'll try number two-ing on the carpet next, eh..

No it's a wind-up thread, designed to get people arguing.

    It IS half term..

Thinking back on the time that I had a very vicious sudden attack of cystisis which turned out to be a kidney infection, I found myself needing to wear pads for almost a week - and quite frankly I found that I was really very very sore and tender "down below" - I couldn't have sat around with damp knickers on - even a pad made me feel that I was burning - think baby's nappy rash - was even using some baby bum cream!

Think that the OP is exaggerating/telling lies/trolling ....after all, it is half-term!

I think the majority of people aren't being truthful with themselves.

Yes, it's her house. Yes, it must be awful. Yes, I totally sympathise.

However, how many of the posters (truthfully) would be happy to sit down for a meal knowing it was soaked with piddle? Really, truthfully? Not many.

Yes, you don't have many options. Yes, it is silly of her not to want to address it. But I don't think many of the people criticising you would want to sit in pee soaked chairs either.

    I wouldn't, I'd have moved out. I presume there's a financial incentive for staying.
  • No one is suggesting they sit in pee soaked chairs. If the inlaws don't want to do anything about it, the OP and her spouse should move out. But don't humiliate the inlaws further by using your own chairs!

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Regardless whether this is a genuine thread or not, I find it hard to believe that people would let their own family members sit in their pee without at least trying to seek help for them when it's obvious the elders are not coping with the situation.

And that's why I find the whole thread hard to believe. ;)

Added to which, OP hasn't been back since 35 mins after she started this thread! She signed-out before anyone had responded to her.

Op you are not a prisoner, you are free to move out = it really seems that you should do so as you are making your MIL uncomfortable in HER own home
The opposite of what you know...is also true

If someone is in my house I want them to feel comfortable, not ill at the thought of being there!
Maybe the post below has hit the nail on the head and the MIL is doing her damnedest to get rid of the OP by making her feel so uncomfortable.

Perhaps that's why the FIL took his wife's side - because he's in on the plan.
