Thanks to everyone for their comments and a particular thank you to the Land Registry person who, as always, replied promptly

The problem here is exacerbated by the fact that we had a brilliant conveyancing solicitor but she has now retired from the firm and therefore getting someone competent to put the matter right is proving to be a Sisyphean struggle :(

We purchased an off plan apartment and paid extra money to the people assigning the long leasehold interest to us. SDLT was paid on the original price + premium. My solicitor sent all the relevant documentation to the Land Registry but they didn't read the papers properly and only looked at the original price paid

It is a significant error that can cause long term damage as when we come to sell, the capital growth a purchaser looks at will be based on the figure on the Land Registry title. When we buy properties, that is always the first thing I check

If there is someone at the Land registry to whom I could be speak, rather than having to rely on this very inefficient firm of solicitors, I would be extremely grateful to know his/her name or what number I should ring

    Thanks again

do you not have other evidence such as the contract and/or advertising material which you could provide to a potential buyer?
All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)

In my experience it doesn't really matter who picks up the phone at their end - on the whole they are very friendly and helpful. Of course, it's nice if you get through to the Swansea office just for the accent :)

rp0132 - what were the other 4 replies? Or are you making a 5th attempt because you didn't get a reply to first four?

I appreciate the circumstances as posted so just wondering what you were told?

If you have asked 4 times and got the same answer each time I can't see a 5th changing anything

You may have tried again already though so will wait to read what reply you received

The previous four replies were-"Send us the paperwork and we will change it if you are correct''. I sent it FOUR times, and they seem totally incapable of reading the paperwork. I know you say mistakes are rarely made at the LR. Well-In my case they have been and I am completely fed up with a situation in which every time I ring them, I get the same moronic replies -Clearly anyone with a brain would know I HAVE provided the proof and so did my solicitor at the time of completion last November
So I urge and beg you to give me the name of a Land Registry employee who is capable of reading a simple document

I appreciate it could be frustration, however...., if i worked for LR i know what i'd be doing. Have you been as polite in all your requests, i think i may see why you have a problem.
